Flat towing my 2015 Jeep Wrangler questions

I am new to the RV world and flat towing to start!


I have a 2015 Forester 2861DS and a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited.


Do I need to change the stock front bumper and what tow bar would be acceptable?

We towed a 2016 wrangler tens of thousands of miles. No need to remove the front bumper as there are a number of aftermarket manufacturers who make a base plate to match a tow set up from your coach. Roadmaster and blue ox are just two of many. That’s unless you opt for a ball type permanent set up. They mate right up to existing holes in your frame and may require some modification to your splash guard, but no issue to do. Plug in electrical, etc as well. It all makes for pretty easy hook/unhook up.

I tow a 2015 Wrangler unlimited and use a blueox base plate and tow bar. I installed an M&G brake system and love it. I installed everything myself in about four hours with minimal modifications to the Jeep. Very simple to hook up, takes less than 5 minutes, one air line, one electrical cable, one brake away cable and two pins for the tow bar. Nothing to install or remove inside of the Jeep.
