Well then, shut my mouth. I was not aware of that. FMC, I take back all those nasty rumors I spread about you.

Ford did not design and build the 6.7 .Most of it was designed by AVL of Austria.Navistar DID build the 6.0 and the 6.4 untill 2007,when ford yanked the manufacturing contract from them.Navistar redesigned the 7.3 from an existig design of 7.3's that they were already building for thier med duty lines. It was redesigned to Ford specs.International still uses the 7.3 in med duty apps because they are exempt
from the epa strangulations in these apps.

Yep and it will do the same to Fords.

My wife reminds me often she wishes I had talked to her before tading the '15 F150 on the '16 F250 as she would have liked the Super Crew short bed for her daily driver.

So, the basic lesson from OC here is to never buy a truck from a company that has a name that can be easily used to create a catchy derogatory acronym. How do otherwise intelligent people devolve into 12 year olds when it comes to trucks.

My father's first new car was a Ford, traded it @ 9,000 miles with a flat camshaft for a Chevy. My only Ford had the gas tank literally fall out. Got rid of it and have been GM ever since.

I'm just ribbing you a little, OC. What's funny is that just as many people are completely anti-Chevy because of a similar experience with them.

Please show me where I said that. I clearly stated a couple posts later that this is "all in good fun" and that I actually own a Ford. Do some people give up their sense of humor as part of a deal to buy a Ford?
But if you want to get serious .... I guess you are ok with Fords deaths and injury's ....
"In the largest auto industry recall to date, Ford was forced to front the repair bill for more than 20 million vehicles after a safety defect in their transmission system caused more than 6,000 accidents, 1,700 injuries and 98 deaths." "In 1978, all 1971-through-1976 Ford Pintos were recalled and upgraded with the originally proposed shielding and reinforcements. In the ensuing years, though, some doubt has been cast on the relative severity of the defect. Reports range from 27 to 180 deaths as a result of rear-impact-related fuel tank fires in the Pinto"
And speaking of hiding stuff:
"The total would have been approximately $113 million (including the engineering, the production delays and the parts for tens of thousands of cars to fix the problem), but damage payouts (lawsuits fir injuries) would cost only about $49 million, according to Ford's math. So the fix was nixed, and the Pinto went into production in September 1970."

1. You brought up the recall situation, not me. So by my pointing out that GM has had recall issues, I'm not defending Ford, as you are asserting here. I was pointing out that ALL manufacturers have recalls.
2. I brought up the Pinto earlier, so I'm clearly, once again, not defending any particular brand.

RAMS recalls are so serious that had to offer buy backs.
The vehicles eligible for buyback are as follows:
- 2008–2012 Dodge/Ram 1500 pickups (265,000 vehicles)
- 2008–2012 Dodge/Ram 45oo and 5500 heavy-duty pickups (35,942 vehicles)
- 2009–2011 Dodge Dakota
- 2009 Dodge Durango
- 2009 Chrysler Aspen
Every manufacture has had it problems is how they handled them after the come to light or did they try to hide them or step up to the plate and fix them.
