Ford Superduty recall

I read this on TFL truck but maybe it will help to post it here:
https://tfltruck.com/2022/02/ford-re...ve-shaft-news/

I'm bummed because my truck is on the list (I went to the nhtsa website and plugged in my VIN number to see). Apparently they aren't going to mail out notices until next month? But since I already know I'm on the list, I will call the dealership next week to hopefully get it fixed. Maybe if I get in ahead of everyone else, it can be fixed in a decent amount of time.

I bought a 2021 F350 this past November. I saw this the other day but was not sure if my truck would be a part of this. Thanks for info. I put my VIN in and I am not on the list.
Have a good weekend!!

Remember, the recall is for trucks with a gas engine, not diesel.

I'm trying to figure out why that is the case. It involves a piece of shielding that attaches to the bottom of the body. It can come loose and contact the driveshaft. How can that be related to what engine the truck has? It's crazy. Doesn't make sense to me.

I think the gasser has an aluminum driveshaft. Perhaps the diesel is steel?

If I had one of the effected trucks first thing I'd do is crawl under the truck and have a
good look around. Is there a heat shield near the drive shaft that is at all loose? Are there any shiny marks on the driveshaft to indicate that something has rubbed?
THEN either take action now or wait for the letter.

I just made a service appointment for my 2019. The service writer always looks up recalls and mentioned this one, that I was not aware of. He said they just replace the rivets in the shield. Since mine never fell off - problem solved!

Sure... obviously you know your way around a vehicle better than I do. I don't even change my own oil. And I'm just working my way up to being able to change a tire. So I have to take it to the shop. It doesn't cost me anything, so why not.

More likely there is a difference in the size/shape/routing of the exhaust components between the gas & diesel engines, or in the location of hot parts like catalytic converters or DPF.

Well, another FYI: I called to make my appointment, and they said they have to order parts and it may be "a while" before they can get them in.

So, I advise anyone affected to get started on this sooner rather than later.

I called my local dealer and took it in yesterday and got it back today. They took care of this recall, inspected it for a second recall regarding carpet shielding. They also address the open CSP for the door locks freezing.

Did they just have the part in stock? I wish my dealer had...

If it falls under a warranty or recall I don't give a crap. Let it be. It is a piece of metal we drive. Much more important things in life. Took me a long time to realize that but I don't care about stuff that can be fixed or replaced any longer. Mess with my family or friends and well that is a different story.
