Forrester to Honda CRV Drop Reciever

Hi,
I have a Forrester Class C and a 2007 Honda CRV. I am getting ready to buy a Blue Ox Towbar System. Two questions:
1. What kind of drop Reciever do I need, if any? None, 2 inch, 4 inch?
2. What kind of in tow vehicle braking system do you use?
Thanks
Pete

Your combination of hitch height on a Forester towing a Honda CRV will vary model to model.

Until you install the baseplate to the CRV, attach it to the Forester, and then view the towbar for being as close to parallel as possible, it may be difficult for anyone to answer exactly what height drop hitch you’ll need, if any.

Personally, I can tow directly motorhome to toad, or use a 2” drop, and still have my tow bar within spec......which is usually no more than 2” higher or lower to level.

I don’t tow a CR-V, but . . .

It’s also hard to answer because it depends what model of Blue Ox tow bar you have. Some Blue Ox tow bars go directly into a receiver, where other models connect to a trailer ball.

For a brake system, I use the RVi brake 3. I tried a Hopkins BrakeBuddy but it would not fit in my car and I thought the control was cheesy, so I returned it. There are a lot of brake systems available and all they’re being used by somebody. You’ll probably get a dozen different answers on what brake to use, and that won’t be much help because it’s personal choice.
