Fridge on the highway

Just a thought, could you use a factory 110 Volt ac outlet in my Chevy truck bed, it's 400watts to power my 110 volt .81amp draw compact fridge while rolling down the highway....just a brain fart

Moved thread from the Wildwood sub-forum to the Towing and Tow Vehicles sub-forum since the OP's questions are specific to a tow vehicle and nothing to do with a Wildwood product.

One ( 1 ) amp is 120 watts at 120 volts. Your fridge draws less then an amp, so it should run off a 400 watt inverter.
Plug it in and see if it cools.

Try it. If it runs it runs. Right?

Yes, give it a try. The running amps are good. See if your inverter can handle the startup surge…

as you are going down the road with the 7 way plugged in your alternator is recharging the battery. your battery powers the inverter, and the inverter powers the refer.
All without any help from an extra extension cord strung down the side of your trailer.[ as you are going down the road] DR

plenty of small fridges are run in the back of trucks

there are chest fridge or freezers (mainly 12v) they can be used in the truck to supplement trailer fridges for long trips

A little 110v bar type fridge may work but test out how easy you can locate it so you can get stuff in/out of it

If you are the only one with long arms ....
Daddddd can you get me the milk!

------------------------------------------------------
For the NO kids people ... extra fridge space means you can mount the small Kegs

Un

Know the math.

1 amp at 120 ac is 10 amps dc. Plus 20% if using an inverter.

Thus the 1 amp fridge will consume about 12 amps dc while driving. Most tv’s produce a bit less than that in a trailer or fiver.

Course it does not run at 100% per hour.

Seems some people may be confused about what the OP is talking about.

They are using the built in on board little inverter 110 vac outlet in the bed area of his truck. Has nothing to do with the trailer inverter

X2
There was no mention of an inverter in the R/V.

They simply want to "use a factory 110 Volt ac outlet in my Chevy truck bed, it's 400watts to power my 110 volt .81amp draw compact fridge" (OP's words)

To the OP... I have a friend with a Ford truck that does this very thing with a dorm sized refrigerator.

12v chest type fridge would be more practical you can slide it around

unless you got long arms like I said above

both will work in that truck bed
