From Gas to Diesel TV
Have a 2011 Ford F250SD 6.2 Gas and looking to change to a 2014 F350SD, 6.7L diesel with a 3.55 axle with 11500 GVWR . Have no problems with the gas except pull power and mileage. Any thing I should really be looking at?

Not really. Maintenance cost will be a little more, but the benefits far outway that. I think you'd love it. They are definitely a dream to tow with. Did you have any particular concerns?

I like the ability to fuel at Pilot/flying J travel centers...or Loves...or T/A..and have PLENTY of room to manuvere...also the exhaust braking..when exiting on a "short ramp" of the freeways...better mileage ...YES...Power...Yes...

Looking at your Sig and it looks like you are pulling a lot, using the large areas to fuel is a piece of mind especially in tight lots. But the power was my turning point going to diesel, and unless I downgrade (will never happen), I will stick with the extra price of ownership. Sounds like you have made your mind up, and you will be telling yourself I should of did this up grade years ago......

...watch out for the everlasting grin you'll have on your face when towing with the diesel...worth every penny over the cost of the gasser...good luck

That grin gets a lot bigger going across Colorado on I-70.
I love using the truck pumps to fuel up.

Agree with Cajun on that one. You'll never want to go back to a gasser tow vehicle after you swap.

Thanks all, there was nothing wrong with the gasser except miles and power, love the truck and was able to find a diesel with everything on it and I mean everything from sunroof to nav, as Lou told me when we where in FL that he was not going to ride in my truck because it did not have enough cup holders, now it does LOL.

I just did the plunge and upgraded from Silverado 1500 5.3 to a Sierra 2500HD Duramax. My only problem now is waiting to start pulling with it.
Soo-o-on.

I went from a shortbed quadcab Ram 2500 with a Hemi to my current crewcab longbed Silverado Duramax. Back seat has more legroom the longbed is a jpy to tow with the IFS is a dream. Power is smooth and basically effortless the gasser needed to be fed rpms not the case with a diesel. Towing milage is better as well. Good luck with the truck it sure is a nice one.

What base rail kit did you use, I have a Reese 16k slider with the universal kit now. They wanted me to take it off my trade and was wondering if it will work or have to get the custom unit. Also have air bags on 2011 I will be taking off, will I need them on the F350, we have a CC 36RE with about 2500 pounds pin weight

I just switched from 2011 6.2 to the same truck you got in gray! Love the power! Only averaging 3 mpg better in diesel! Awesome truck you'll love it

go with the custom brackets. Lots sturdier than the universal kits since you have 1 solid bracket per side. Doubt you will need the air bags since you have a 1 ton now.

I have same truck and used the universal rail kit. However I did spend the extra money to put the heavier mounting brackets underneath the bed. I really enjoy the truck but there is one downfall - I have a 26 gallon fuel tank so every couple of hundred miles i am searching for fuel. I like the blue.

Playing devil's advocate here. If you have a heavy rig, you need diesel pulling power. If gas engine does the job efficiently and safely, then consider this. Do the math on a fictitious trip. Figure something like a 1000 mile trip at 8mpg at your local gas price/gal. Then maybe 14 mpg with diesel at your local diesel prices. See what each trip will cost. Then you'll see if the improved mpg is worth the additional cost of buying a diesel.
Just a thought.
