Garage Queen Or Somewhere In Between ?

With so many discussions about trucks…Gas versus diesel and ½ vs ¾ and one tons it started me thinking about how many of us use are trucks in different ways when we aren’t towing any RV.

My truck isn’t a daily driver so basically I use it whenever I need to tow or haul materials such as gravel, mulch, topsoil and block etc on my property. I have a factory spray in liner so that helps with dents and scratches but you can tell I use the bed but to me that’s why I have a truck.

I have no concerns about going to the local building materials center and getting a ton of topsoil dropped in the bed I’m sure others wouldn’t care to do that and others use their trucks for more severe duty and others wouldn’t consider using their truck in that manner and some are garage queens

Mine's my daily driver. Kept more like an SUV with a better cargo carrying area.
I do like keeping it looking nice. I haul stuff in it but not gravel or dirt yet No liner. I did add a rubber bed mat and a weathertech tailgate guard. Plus there are two pivoting storage boxes and a tonneau cover.

Since I retired in 2009 my truck is still driven daily with just me in the truck. If my wife is with me we take here VW Jetta which is a diesel vehicle so, I am always driving a diesel vehicle.

I use my truck for all sorts of things from getting landscaping items to hauling wood for my wood working projects. I usually put on about 10,000+ miles a year on the truck.

Still looking good even being a 12 year old vehicle.

I’ve owned an F250 since 1996, first a 1997 and now a 2011. Since my wife and I worked together for 22 years (now retired together for the last five years) my 3/4 ton pickup was never a daily driver. We bought the 2011 in 2010 with the idea it would be our retirement truck and kept the 97 until 2015. This allowed me to drive the 2011 only occasionally for upkeep so it now only has 37K on it.

We just put a topper on it for when we travel with our trailer to keep items in the bed more secure and out of the weather. Doing this limits my ability to haul bulk stuff like gravel so I’m considering picking up a 5x8 utility trailer. ( I also occasionally haul a riding mower or quad which I can no longer do with the topper.)

She doesn’t like driving the pickup so if I am going somewhere without her and she may need to drive somewhere I drive the F250. Otherwise I just drive her Explorer.

In summary, I would say that my truck is now a garage queen due to the topper. My 97 hauled many a load of gravel, rock, dirt, game animals including a moose and who knows what else.

Mine is a daily driver for me to go to work but it sees sporadic truck duty as required over the winter. The wife has a VW Tiguan that we'll use in the evenings and weekends. Just went to pick up an '82 GoldWing Interstate this weekend. Used the gooseneck trailer as it's nice and low to load a frozen motorcycle onto. It was an as-is where-is special.

Garage queen.

At around retirement age, after never having owned a pickup in my life, I bought one. Pickup trucks seem so popular, so I thought maybe I was missing out on something. So now it’s three years old, mostly sits in the garage, and has only 11,000 miles on it. I find very little use for it. For most cargo hauling errands, a van is more useful to me than a truck with an open bed. Oh well, at least now I know.

My truck is my daily driver ... though I work from home these days and don't do much driving at all. I really enjoy driving my truck and would definitely miss it if I only ever drove it seasonally when towing.

I have a different car for a garage queen.

My truck is my daily driver. My wife has a Subaru Outback, but I don't normally drive it. It's just easier for each of us to stick with our own vehicles. The 2016 Silverado will be repositioned in Arizona this summer or fall, where it will be my daily driver during the winter months.

I use my truck for many jobs but hauling water has been going on since 1980. Long bed truck works best for towing and hauling. Drive it most days and I guess I am just used to a long truck. My Andersen hitch makes switching uses easy.

We tow the SV 235RS with a 1998 Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser and LX470/LX570 are over built and heavy for there size. They also use full time 4x4 which is the best for dirt and gravel roads farmers loved full time 4x4's back in the 70's and 80's for trailer towing on dirt roads. Both front and rear differential use 9.5 in. ring gears (larger than most 1/2 tons) that pull all the time. Rear differential has the standard diff lock.

I use the F-250 Super Duty for the 8000 Lb boat and trailer, too much for the cruiser.

Daily Driver about 50 miles a day. I can also haul 3 yds of mulch if I take everything out of the bed. I bought it to work and it won't fit in the garage

I guess mine is somewhere in between. Unless towing the trailer south in the winter, it never sees salt covered winter roads. I use it mostly for towing either the tt or a flat bed utility trailer for a load of gravel or top soil. Its a 2000 E-350 with a V10 and full tow package. I have over 140,000 miles on it and it is still original paint. I've been looking for a newer one, but they just are not available anymore

My 2002 Excursion was my daily driver for years. It was semi-retired to hauling the camper and trips to the lake only for a while. It's fully retired now and fixing to be put up for sale.

Casper would be a garage queen (king?) if he fit in the garage. He was bought for a very narrow reason. Again, to haul my camper, or anytime I need to use my flatbed. He gets used very sporadically. Not for fear of racking up miles, but simply because he is basically a tool with a job, and if I don't need him, I don't run him.

Nice looking van! While I was a service writer at a Ford Truck Dealership I would see the V-10's top 250k miles on fleet trucks that were used hard. My 2000 F-250 has a V-10 with the 5 speed manual ZF tranny and has over 200k on it now. The last place the 6.8 V-10 was used was in the class A motor home chassis F-45.

My Ram is not a DD and it sits in the garage most of the time.
A Subaru Outback is my DD.
