Gas mileage

I have a question about gas mileage. We have a 18 f150 with the 5.0v8 and factory tow package. We just recently purchased a new 21 Grey Wolf 26dbh. I am just curious as to what kind of gas mileage to expect when towing. Our camper is about 7000lbs. fully loaded and just under 32ft long. Just curious what others are getting with a similar set up. Here in MO it is mostly flat with a some hills here and there but nothing too big. The Ozark mountains are nothing like the Rockies. I have taken a good look at our tow ratings so I know we are good there. Feel free to just let me know what set up you have and how your mileage is. I am also new to the forum so I hope I have posted this in the correct place.

Thanks in advance for the info.

On average I get 10 - 12 towing ~4klbs in no wind. Throw in mountains and wind (head or tail) and that changes. However my 2015 has the 6-speed trans and I believe you have 10.

Not the same trailer but there you go...

All gassers, no matter the size of trailer, average between 8-12mpg because it's frontal air resistance that affects fuel mileage more than weight.

I'm with HangDiver. I had a 150 and a 1500 that I used to pull our 2007 Jayco...6800-7000 lbs. Depending on conditions....between 8 and 12 towing. That was about my average.

Wow. Thanks for the replies so fast. I have only pulled ours twice and got about 10mpg so was curious if that was about average give or take

I would say 8 to 12 is average for a trailer that size with a gas engine.

I am wondering why you got the 5.0 to tow with. The 3.5TT is the towing machine.

3.5TT? Do you mean EcoBoost?

Anyway, the OP said their TV is an '18 model, and they recently purchased the travel trailer. So, they probably had the TV before the TT was even in the picture, not the other way around.

Yes. TT = Twin Turbo. Ecoboost is a name given to several engines, some with only 1 turbo.

To answer the question above. Yes, we had the truck before we purchased the camper

It doesn’t seem to matter what make of truck or what engine they have, towing a camper trailer will get about 10MPG. If you have a rather heavy camper it will be bit less and small lightweight camper a bit more.
