Geo Pro 12RK w/ Husky 31421

I have a 'sagging' issue that I hope to fix with a weight distribution hitch—specifically the Husky 31421. I am a little concerned about it fitting though. Looking at the installation pics and videos I am not sure the rear brackets where the chains connect to will fit on this model. They seem to be right where the battery box lives. Has anyone tried installing a WD hitch of the 12RK?

Maybe the idea of doing this on such a small trailer seems silly, but I would feel much safer having this situation leveled out. Plan B would be adding a 2" lift to the rear suspension and some Rancho 9000XL adjustable shocks.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

How about information on your tow vehicle.

I personally don’t think it looks too bad. Have you weighed it to see how it is? If the weights aren’t crazy out of whack I think stiffer shocks would be a great idea. Doubt RAS make one for a jeep as jeeps aren’t traditionally tow vehicles but that came to mind.

I have not checked the weights, but that is a great idea. I have a T/A with scales near me. I'll do that with a typical camping loadout and see what the numbers show.

Be careful. I had a 1987 Wrangler pulling a 17 foot Alumacraft boat, maybe 1700 lbs total and do not recall having any rear sag. Not a lot of tongue weight on a boat trailer

Never towed the boat again with it after coming to a stop sign on a hill with wet pavement. It pushed me right through due to not enough weight of a tow vehicle.

It does not have trailer brakes so that should make a difference. Towed fine with a Grand Cherokee though.

@RobAmy here were towing a GeoPro15 with a Jeep Rubicon. Were.

The tongue on the GP 12RK is so small, I seriously doubt there's room for WDH brackets. Given the photo (which looks pretty good to me) I would just go with it as is. Knowing the weights as suggested above would be helpful.

I am thinking now that the WDH is not a good idea here, and I probably won't bother. I agree with HangDiver that the tongue is so short and full of 'stuff' that it will likely get in the way and make it difficult or impossible to install the WDH.

So, I tried a hitch with a 4" rise, and that made a big difference. The previous hitch had a 1.5-2" rise (not sure exactly). With the 4" rise the trailer is very close to being level. The downside is that I have to remove the spare tire as there isn't enough clearance. Without the trailer attached, I measured the ground to fender distance at 36" all around. With the trailer attached, it was 34" in the rear and remained 36" in the front. I feel pretty good about that, especially now that the trailer is nearly level. The trailer has electric brakes and I added a brake controller, so I am not as concerned about the trailer pushing around the tow vehicle. It also came with a Husky anti-sway control kit which I always use when towing.

The shocks are probably 8+ years old, so I think I will go ahead and upgrade those to the adjustable 9000XLs. But, it feels like just changing the hitch makes all the difference. I will still try to get some weights, although this rig is so short I'm not sure it's long enough to hit all three scales.

I appreciate everyone's input!
