Going truck shopping...

...wish me luck.

I have to get out if a lease at the halfway point. Not sure if I'll be able to put a deal together or not.

I'm going to look at Tundra, and Ram w/ecodiesel, today, and ecoboost next week.

The Ram has really got my attention with the fuel economy people are reporting. It's just the two of us, so the payload issue might not be a problem.... gotta see the numbers.

All good vehicles, just keep an eye on the payload stickers.

Was just looking yesterday at chevy 2500's. They seem to be a better deal than. F150's if you can live with less bling.

I can live with less bling, actually I prefer it. I'm looking for a deal right now. Payment must not increase.

No luck at Toyota, still too much owed on the lease. The good thing is they offered about $3000 more for my trade than I expected. The bad thing is they are out of 2014s and the incentives aren't there for the 2015s.

I might have a chance with the Ram. The guy at the dealer is a friend/acquaintance of mine and called me asking questions trying to pull in more rebates.

I don't need the truck until spring, so I'm not jumping at anything. For that matter, my SUV can pull the trailer, albeit somewhat challenged.

LOL, my friend called me to say the Ram just sold and they don't have another one right now. Looks like my shopping trip will end rather unceremoniously.

Wait until spring. You'll have less owed on the lease and there will be sales on the 2015's.

Bummer. Take your time, you'll find the right one. Before buying DW's Infiniti we went to 15 different dealerships and test drove probably 30 cars before deciding on the Infiniti and then finding the right deal. Just have patience and you'll come out ahead

I'm in big trouble. He let me take the Ram for a drive.... that ecodiesel is sweet. I reset the computer and was getting 28mpg on my 20 mile test drive through the hills. All I can say right now is wow! I torqued up a long steep grade -- I can so see this thing pulling my trailer.

Any particular reason you're not looking at used vehicles? I find trucks to be so expensive anyway that the premium you pay for a new one, and subsequent and immediate depreciation, is gut wrenching. I'm sure you could find something a year or two old that still has some warranty left.

Used would be great, if I could find something at a dealer suitable for towing. They seem to be few and far between around here. I just started looking, though, so maybe something will come up.

The real issues is my current lease. I have to work with a dealer to handle that. The reason I started now instead of the spring, was the thought that they may be trying to move 2014s. That, and, when I checked trade in values for my highlander, they seemed to indicate I was at a break even position so I figured I'd give it a go. My problem isn't the lease, my problem is the price of vehicles and the payment that I'm trying to stay within. I could have had the tundra for $160/month over my current payment, no thanks.

The way I look at it, we want to go to Myrtle Beach in April. It would be nice to have a more suitable vehicle for the 1700 mile round trip, but I'm going either way! I have time...

Chevy's been advertising "Pickup month" recently, but my local dealer didn't seem to have a lot of them.

I've been in your shoes on this issue. In the beginning I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a TV from a family member. Then came the day that offer ended and I had to get a truck sooner than expected.

Good luck!

Just drive'm all. Gas and diesel and get what you like and can afford. I bought my first 2500 Chevy in '11 after owning Fords and driving them for work trucks for many years.
The '11 2500 was the first year they offset the rear axle to the rear of the leafs and used the fully boxed frame. Great truck for towing and even better if you get an oil burner. I like my '11 so much I just bought a '15 dually.
Give'm all ride. Enjoy the hunt.

I drive a lot, so finding an economical solution for daily driver is crucial. The highlander is the wife's car, I have a 2014 Rav4 -- I put 19k miles on it since March. Now you can see how giddy I was when the ecodiesel mileage computer hit 28mpg and kept climbing. Wifey can take over the Rav, and I get back into a truck! I've had just about every brand over the years, all half ton, but moved to a small SUV for economy sake because of the miles I drive.

So who makes the ecodiesel for Dodge. European? fiat? I assume they did not build this engine from scratch.

Think about March for that new truck. They may have start dealing for the 2016 season coming up. The inventory will still be good for choices and time for the discounts are getting better. I bought my 2014 GMC 2500 crewcab Duramax 4X4 for $44,000 in March. It had more than $10,000 off of sticker. It's something like going to Vegas.
