Goose Neck

I was wondering if there was any negative with using a gooseneck adapter with my XLR 5th wheel king pin. I just completed a 1200 mile trip up the East coast with the gooseneck adapter with no complaints.

Thanks

I'm guessing you found it, but is your adapter one that drops down? If so that increases leverage and stresses the structure more. Something like the anderson doesn't drop down the adapter but manufacturers still try to make an issue of it.

This is what I have I have the factory goose neck adapter in by 2017 Chev Dualy.

There seems to be a mixed bag of opinions. Some say its fine other dont.

Thanks

I've been looking at them, seen it once at a campground. I was also concerned about the mixed reviews. I talked to gen y hitches, they are going through the process to get theirs gooseneck approved by lippert. I would use the goosebox but it won't work on my rambox bed. Keep us updated on how yours works out.

Most folks I know run gooseneck adapters on their fifth wheels. From small to OMG huge. They do this because on the farm/ranch most trailers are gooseneck. Makes it easy not having to switch hitches back and forth. Never heard of anyone having any problems.

The goosebox drops it down the same amount so I'm not sure why it would be approved while others potentially void any warranty.

I don't know, I read things about leverage etc. Being different with an adapter over a conversion.

Here is the picture with the Andersen. Don't think I have one with the super lite. Took it to storage Monday. I'll pick it up next week for a trip.Click image for larger version
