Help with Fifth Wheel capacity

Not trolling , closer to 6316lbs. Still plenty heavy for a little 1/4 ton GMC Canyon. Curb weight of a Canyon is only around 4,000 lbs, could be kinda sketchy on a windy day. Stay safe out there!

But the GVWR isn't.

You are trolling by suggesting you're "surprised" that I don't tow it with a 1-ton dually, which both of us know is unnecessary.

If the OP can find a trailer that won't put them overweight, great.
Most people know dry weights are meaningless, too.

I know what it's like to end up with too much trailer for a truck, it's not a fun place to be. I'm just trying to throw out some realistic expectations based on what I've seen and experienced.

As for my setup, GVWR is 5,626lb on the 21SS. My max tow is 7,600lb. I guess having GVWR at ~75% of max tow rating is pushing it. Sure hope your trailer's GVWR isn't more than 75% of your max tow otherwise you'd be a hypocrite.

True, but if you calculate max pin weight as 20% of GVWR that is still over the OP's stated limit based on their own calculations of 2,000lb. And again, 5er THs get pin heavy fast without a good sized toy in the back to take some of that off.

Just trying to be realistic...

Agreed, pin weight doesn’t bother me near as much as total weight. Manufacturers payload ratings are always rated very much on the safe side.
