Help with weights....
So after a couple white knuckle trips on the last couple trips with our travel trailer it finally made a trip to the CAT scales. I have a 2016 F150 FX4 screw with the 5.0 with a 5-1/2 box. Pulling a 2014 Grey Wolf 29BH. It's a handful to say the least. Last trip was all over the interstate, sway control kicked in 4 times in an 1-1/2 hr trip.
Dry weight on camper door says 6124lbs.
gvwr on door says 7000lbs
Front axle gawr 3450
Rear axles gawr 3800
Pathfinder Sport sat tires 275/65r18 E range at 70psi
I have a Reese Pro Series WDH with dual sway
Last trip had chain links on 3rd link
1st pass on scale
Front axle 3120
Rear axle 3120
Trailer axle 6320
12,560 gross
2nd weight with no wdh, laid in bed
2900 front axle
3440 rear axle
6240 trailer axle
I tried to weigh truck separate with camper axle on one scale, tongue on another, and truck on another. Weights were odd.
5580 truck
7000 camper
I think they screwed up in the scale house. Didn't get tongue weight?
I'm at a loss as to make thing rig pull straight. 10 ply tires from Wranglers didn't help. No matter where I lock in the chain links, I've tried 1-5 links on chains on wdh and it doesn't seems to get better or worse. I've cranked the sway control as tight as I can to barely snug. I'm thinking it's not setup on wdh, it's the truck. We pulled this camper with a 2014 f150 xlt with no problems (20" rims with low profile tires). Last summer we took short trips and drove slow. We usually have 3 bicycles on the rear cargo rack and a dorm fridge inside the door of the camper (no outdoor kitchen). We have an Iowa to Black Hills trips in late June and I've arraigned to swap trucks with a buddy who has an f250.
