Highway travel

Hello folks
Quick question. I have a 2010 rockwood ultra light I just purchased. Dealer installed EAZ hitch setup including sway controller etc. Now I've driven 18 wheelers in the past and know this not comparable lol, but my Yukon front end seemed light. I'm a retired US Marine and love the road. My wife just completed the AT and I just dont want us taken out by a stupid issue. The rv is 6300lbs, tongue wt around 800. Yukon slt has towing pkg and handles nicely, do i need to recheck how dealer set it up

You may want to go to a Cat Scale or equivalent with a bag of tools to see how well the dealer setup was done. There are a number of videos to show you how to set it up if you’re unfamiliar. Improvise, adapt and overcome Marine.

If your front end seems light you may not be transferring enough weight to your Yukon font axle. You need to hit the scales and get some weights with and without the WDH. Then make adjustments from there. Anything else would just be a guess.

Here's the process for how you weigh:
https://learntorv.com/weigh-rv/

You need to do 3 weights:
  1. Truck + camper w/ WDH bars engaged
  2. Truck + camper w/o WDH bars (put them in the back of the SUV)
  3. Truck only

Make sure you start comparing ratings as indicated in the article.

And then, as mentioned - take tools to re-adjust the WDH yourself. Dealers are notorious for getting it wrong AND they have no idea how you'll load the camper.

Dealer installed on an empty trailer ain't gonna be right once you're loaded and all the minimum wage "installer" is doing is tightening the bolts, he ain't gonna tow it.

Down the instructions and re-install it yourself with the trailer loaded including water, propane, and batteries. Easy if a little tedious as it may take several tries.

Quite possibly not set up right by dealer and may need some tweaking. As to being set up to empty trailer, this is usually how it happens on a new TT as there is no way to do it otherwise. But if you have a great technician, they will dial it up a tad for some weight. They however have no idea what you will be towing weight wise so it isn’t a lot.

The scale idea would definitely indicate if they did anything other than placing it on if you know what I mean.
