Hitch Help

With our new F-250 we are trying to figure out how to get the desired ball height needed on our hitch to tow our trailer level.
I purchased a adapter sleeve so I could try installing our WDH and see how far off we would be... well, we are not even close.
I have about 1-1/2” of adjustment left that I could gain some ground on how far the ball height is off but somehow I need another 4”.
We tow a Micro Lite which has a low hitch height to begin with, measured from our RAM that we just traded in it used to be 14-1/2” to the bottom plate on our WDH.
At that hitch height on our old TV it towed the trailer perfectly level.
If I connect our trailer right now it will be high in the front.
So is there a WDH drop shank that will get me another 4-6” of adjustment? I have tried searching E-trailer and I am not seeing anything that would help my situation.
Pretty sure I don’t even need the WDH as the trailer is only 5k lbs but either way I would still need the ball height lowered 4”.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

You could switch to an Andersen WDH w/ up to an 8" drop.

https://andersenhitches.com/Catalog/...e-wd-kits.aspx

With that trailer and truck you could get away with no WDH at all, though, and just use a drop shank and ball rated for the trailer's GVWR or higher.

Not sure what other options are out there to deal with that much drop and still have a WDH, that truck is ridiculously high when empty.

Blue Ox Sway Pro has several options that might work for you.

buy the drop-shank hitch needed from e-trailer and try towing without the WDH as I doubt you really need it... add a sway controller if you think you need that after getting some experience towing without WDH... watch you tongue weight and keep it high to virtually eliminate sway to begin with...

I don't think I can add much to the ideas above, but I did want to point out that you have a "Lariat", not a "Lariet". These new Super Duty's really ride high, don't they? I'll be getting the rails for my 5th wheel hitch next week finally, and will have to go through the adjusting for my trailer.

Possibly but before spending time that much without WD and sway make sure you don’t need it. I agree with others you probably won’t need them. I know towing my probably heavier and longer TT I didn’t need WD with 2500 or 350 but the sway control for the wind and West Texas speed limit was very much wanted

You didn't say what WDH you have. If it's an Equal-i-zer, did you see the extended drop shank on etrailer? Will give you a 9" drop.

https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...0-02-4400.html

I don't have any problem with the standard Equal-i-zer shank with my 2500HD Chevy and Mini Lite 2503S.

The WDH we have is very similar to a equalizer, probably the same just re labeled.
Going to wait until I get the cap installed ( just ordered it today) then will try connecting the trailer and see how far off I really am.
I have had good luck with my RV dealer and they are only 3-miles away so if I can’t get what I currently have to work I will just bring everything down to them and let them figure out a solution!
Don’t really need it figured out until April anyway, so I have some time.

There no such animal, as a re-labeled 4 point Equal-i-zer.
It's a patented design.
There are some similar versions but not a re-labeled one.

My mistake, I am not that hitch savvy.
The one I have is identical to a Reese RP65509

That's why the term WDH(weight distributing hitch)is the better term, than "equalizer", since that is a brand name.

Etrailer says that one only has a 1-1/4" drop.

Here are etrailers shanks for Reese WDH's.

https://www.etrailer.com/s.aspx?qry=reese+shank

Several of them have a lot more drop. You need to figure out which one looks like yours, only longer.

I think it may be this one, 5-3/4" drop:

https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...e/RP54977.html

You could also give etrailer a call. Their customer service is outstanding.

The one with the 5-3/4” drop may have some possibilities, will have to wait until I can get everything setup with my current hitch and take some measurements.

NICE TRUCK MT-Biker!!

I'm right there with ya'... new Tow Vehicle except this time I stepped into a Diesel Crew Cab....can't wait to find out how much different it tows than my old 2012 Suburban!

Our's is "Magma-Red Metallic"

I'll be interested to keep an eye on your posts and see how you make out with your new hitch configuration!

I only have the "generic" style WDH that we got when we bought our Roo, I was able to drop the ball mount to the last holes on the Shank and I'm right around 24.5" from the ground to the top of the ball...haven't gotten back to the trailer yet but I am hoping that is enough to get me what I need for level, have a look!

Nice looking truck!
Exactly the same hitch that I have!
Still waiting for a warm day so I can play around hooking up the trailer and seeing just how far off I really am, but my guess is I will be 4-5” high.

Thanks! Do love the color on your truck AND the proportions with the long bed/cab setup, I will bet it ends up towing like a dream! I did find on e-trailer several other shanks for the "Pro Series" hitch..but nothing as cool as the amazon link I show below!

BTW... we are hoping to move from our little ROO233 someday to one of the Rockwood Ultra-Light 2600-2700 models so we can do some roomier and longer trips....SO that was the justification to upgrade truck. In the post purchase research, I did find this shank on Amazon that might be just your ticket (and mine) if I can't get the ball down low enough to make the trailer happy...

https://www.amazon.com/Reese-54977-W...63979056&psc=1

Good luck, I will keep an interested eye out on your travels and connection efforts on the tow hitch!

That is the same drop hitch Rockford Roo posted earlier, I think it may do the trick.
I am waiting on my computer to start so I can post a couple of pictures that I just took on how high my hitch sits.

On my old truck the height of the bottom of the lower base plate was 14-3/4".
On the new truck it sits at 18-1/2"
