How do you know what hitch to buy?

I bought a 33' 273 qbxl. 6,000 UVW, 750 hitch weight, 1,724 ccc. Will be towed with a 2015 Silverado 2500 w/ tow package. I'm having a tough time trying to pick the right hitch for this setup. I really don't won't to spend $3k either. Any suggestions or guidance on how to buy the correct hitch would be appreciated. The dealer recommended a blue ox sway pro.

Should I get the 1,000 or 1,200 # ?

I would go 1000, other than for sway I doubt you will need a WD

We have the equalizer as well and it does well. Learn where to apply grease per the manual to keep it quiet.

Another vote for Equalizer. I have the 1400# version pulling a toy hauler with 11400GVW and a tongue weight of around 1200#. Would buy again for sure.

I like the Blue Ox sway pro.

Since you won't need to return much weight to the front an Anderson hitch might be worth looking at, I have no experience with it but it is an interesting design and has good reviews.

Since you mentioned $3000, you seem to be at least intrigued by a Propride or Hensley. You don't have to buy new - check for used ones. I just did a quick web search and saw several up for sale for around half off, on in Allentown, one in Indiana and one in Colorado.
Just something to think about.

Take a look at the Husky Center Line TS Hitches 800-1200lb TW or the 1k-1,400lb TW models. I can't comment on the Equalizer Hitches I have never tried one but they are popular along with the Blue Ox hitches. I don't think you will go wrong with any of those.

I had a Blue Ox and wasn't that impressed with it. I'd listen to the Equalizer crowd. I've heard a lot of good things about this hitch.

Your vehicle was tested for handling issues with tongue weight (SAE J2807)...check the owners manual for your truck.

Mines a '17 and they made a few changes in those two years (so it may not be the same). My truck doesn't require a wdh for 2000lbs on the tongue and I pull my trailer with 1500lbs on the tongue with no issues. One handed driving across the windy plains and I do the speed limit when conditions allow.

Skip the wdh hitch (if your manual says you don't need one). Buy a decent height adjustable hitch. Load the trailer so the weight is forward (tongue heavy), keep from adding any weight behind the trailers axles and test it out. Why spend the money if you don't need too?

I like my Equalizer a LOT. Get the (optional from Equalizer) rubber pads that fit under the sway bars at the trailer end. The anti-sway properties are not affected, but all of your camping neighbors will much appreciate the substantial noise reduction they provide when you need to sneak out of a campground at 5 AM.

Yet another vote for 1000 equalizer. You have a 3/4T truck certainly don't need a propride at $3K, likely don't need any WDH.

One more for Blue Ox sway pro. Set up easy. Tows great. The chains allow to shift more or less weight depending on how I'm loaded and water water. My fresh water is in front close to tongue while the gray and black tanks are behind the axles.

I agree that most likely you won't need the WDH. But I would get it as there will come a time that you wish you had it. When you decide that you need it, you will be out the money of the non-WDH.

When I bring my 6155# UVW (8180# GVW) TT home from storage, I just drop in on my 2500 HD TV's WDH but without the bars. But after l load it up for travel, I add the equalizer bars and sway control bar.

Your TT will be slightly lighter at 6028# UVW and 7752# GVW than mine, but it is roughly 5 feet longer. Do you want to just use a non-WDH hitch and leave your trailer rolling down the road by itself. Will you be using the brakes on the trailer or just use the TV brakes? I don't think you'll regret getting a WDH w/sway control.

I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 Duramax and I use the Equalizer hitch... Buy it once and don't look back... You may not need the equalizer, but the anti sway and the control are worth it. Great support from the company and an excellent product made in the Good old USA...Don't worry about the ones that say it is noisy. You only hear it while moving very slow with windows down.

I'll jump on the don't bother with it boat. Try it out before you buy. Most likely you do not need it on your truck. If you do not have sway issues why bother. It's just one more thing you need to buy and set up when loading/unloading. If you decide that you need sway control and you want a WDH I am very pleased with the Andersen. My situation is different than yours but the hitch is very easy to set up, quiet, has excellent customer support, and is about half the weight of the equalizer and other anti-sway WDH's. That wil not matter for your payload, but will make it easier to put in your hitch.
