Infinity QX56 (or Nissan Armada) owners?

Say, does anyone out there tow with an 4WD Infinity QX56 from the 2004-2010 model years? Just wondering how well it might pull a 3500lb (dry) Roo 183. Thanks!!

I should add:....or a Nissan Armada, because they're 99% the same.

I tow with a 2012 Armada SV. Tow rating of 6500# (yes, I'm sure it's 6500# and not 9000#, but that's another story). I have a Rockwood 2306 with a yellow sticker weight of 3900lbs. We don't haul much... So I'm sure I'm under the gross rating of 4800lbs. I use the 4-pt Equalizer WDH with integrated sway control. I've had zero issues towing with the Armada... It's a great tow vehicle as long as you keep the length to a minimum. I run in tow mode... RPM's run about 1600 on flat and 2200 up hill.

I had a 05 Nissan Titan that I pulled my 26 foot toy hauler with. Weighed 6800 loaded. The truck did very well. I now have a Toyota tundra 5.7 and I am happier with this truck. But with the weigh you want to pull you will be fine. And the QX56 has a little bit different engine design and has higher horsepower and torque ratings that my Titan and armada have. I think you will be very happy.

Eric, i'm sure there's someone in the Roo/Shamrock sub-forums that's towing with the Armada. you might look there also.
but if it has the factory tow package, i think it'll easily tow the 183, even in the Rockies.

is the Pathfinder not doing the job well enough?

I'm not sure if the Pathfinder will tow it well, I don't have the Roo 183 quite yet! Next Friday it arrives. I'll probably tow it up to 10kft to see how it handles.

Mostly, my OCD is car shopping. I can't stop. In my defense, I buy used and only drive about 10k miles per year.

Thanks for the info on the Armada SV and the Titan!

realize that the Titan is infamous for the worst gas mileage of any of the 1/2 ton trucks and i've heard that the Armada is nearly as bad, since it's based on the Titan platform.

I used to tow the tt in my Sig with an 04 armada le. It was 4wd. It handled a 5000 lb 2 horse trailer no problem. It towed a car and a larger boat no problem but it struggled with my 7000 lb tt, especially on the hills. By struggling I mean feeling everything that passed me including cars and SUVs. I had a lot of tail wagging the dog. I barely made it up a 7% grade and really got pushed coming down a 7% grade despite having a prodigy p3 brake controller.

If you get one with the tow package you should be fine with a tt that weighs 3500 lbs. Just double check your loaded weights and tongue weights as the weak point on the armada is the payload. With a family of 3 and a 70 lb dog my armada only had 800 lbs payload left for tongue weight. So you should be ok up to about 5000 lbs loaded weight. I would not go any heavier than 5000 lbs loaded though.

Ps if you get a year that has load leveling suspension turn the armada off and adjust the wdh with load leveling suspension disengaged. It took a lot of work and trips to the scales to figure that out.

With our old armada we got about 13mpg without tt and 6-8 mpg towing on average.

Wow, anaro, that's terrible mileage! My neighbor had an Armada and did complain about the mileage. Maybe I'll continue obsessing over a Sequoia.......

I sure wish I could buy a truck, there's SO many more engine options. But I need the passenger space of a 3-row SUV.

The computer on my Armada says i get 10.2 mi/gal with the TT... And 17.4 without (Hwy/city mix about even). I run 63mph on the highway and 50-55mph up hills and have never had a problem with power.

If I had it to do over again, I would have certainly made sure I got the 9000# tow capacity Armada. As an everyday/tow vehicle, we absolutely love it.

How big is your TT?
And, what indicates a 9000# capacity on an Armada? (not that I need it)
Thanks!

23'-9" from spare tire to tip of tongue. 3900# delivered dry weight.

SV w/factory tow package is 6500#. The LE and Platinum with factory tow are 9000#. I believe that all models with the auto leveling is 9000# (SV doesn't have that feature).

I'm not sure all years have the auto leveling. As I said before, the armada is limited by payload, I think this went up some over the years but it is stated to only take 910 lbs tongue weight before adding passengers. Which giving 13-15% for loaded tongue weight limits you to 6000 lb TT before accounting for family and pets. This number will only decrease with the addition of those things. That said, it should do just fine with the roo (gvwr 4800 lbs) if it has the higher tow rating and is properly equipped to tow. Lower tow rating and I would look for something with more capacity.

EricinColorado....You'll be fine with your QX56. I just sold a Roo 23SS that was a little over 4300# dry and pulled it with an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L H.O. engine, GVWR was 6500#. If the GC can pull the 23SS with a 4.7L H.O., you should be okay with your smaller Roo.
