Is this OK for breakaway attachment?

The eyebolt goes through a 3/16 steel plate behind the license plate with washer and nylon locknut.

I see no problem with it. Easy to reach which is nice with old knees.

I did a similar thing. Just an eye screw to replace the license plate screw. It doesn't take much to pull out the emergency switch. Click image for larger version

That looks like a great way to hook up the breakaway. I have no doubt it will be plenty strong enough to do the job if it ever needs to.

that green cabriner clip is cheaply maid ,YOU NEED A STEEL ONE FROM A HARDWARE STORE. WALMART CABRINERS ARE RATED AT " DO NOT USE FOR CLIMBING. A dog leash clip would be a good choice.

While I agree that the green carabiner shown is not a great choice, there are some aluminum carabiners that will work fine.

The one I use is rated for 4kn (900 ft-lbs) of force.

Even though it's a cheap (free) aluminum carabiner for key ring use and not for climbing, I'm sure it has enough strength to overcome the spring clips that barely hold in the plastic brake plug.

I'd never use that for the safety chains.
