Looking for hitch recommendations

I'm currently towing a wildwood xlite 281qbxl (5680 dry weight with about another 500 pounds of gear) with a Ram 1500 (crew cab/5.7 v8, tow package etc) and my hitch it a fast way e2 round bar.

Hitch seems ok, but I feel like there are better options out there I just don't know what they are. This is the hitch that the dealer installed when I got the trailer so im assuming they went for easiest hardware with highest profit margin. Are there better options? If so, what are the recommendations?

We have a Husky Centerline WDH on a 312bhds loaded at 9200 lbs. It is an excellent hitch system. You can relax and drive. Tracks perfectly.

I see a lot of them on the road. Can you point out advantages of it over the fastway e2? I've not towed with anything other than the hitch I was sold when I bought the trailer last year. Still a little new at this

I use a Reese double cam WDH with sway control. It really works well but it's a bit noisy.

That 4 point Equal-i-zer and my Husky Centerline TS WDH look nearly identical. The Husky might be just a bit more robust.

After reading a lot of reviews I chose the equal-i-zer. Haven been dissapointed. (Of course I haven't used anything else)

I've used a 4 point Equalizer since '09 without any issues. It won't get rid of sway completely, but I've never experienced anything bad at all. Sometimes I feel a little of that being sucked over when semi's pass. Once it's properly set up, which isn't hard to do, it does a great job distributing the weight.
Just beware that it does make a lot of noise when you slowly pull into a campground. That's normal for these hitches. Might get you some looks from fellow campers, but I just smile and wave.

Interesting posts. I see no sway whatsoever (I can't even make it sway) but my dealer just told me the wide axle stance on our 312BHDS 37' is partially responsible. That might be a consideration on a TT purchase besides just the WDH.

I used a 4-point equalizer on our 30' TRAVEL TRAILER and it worked great. The difference between the 2 point and 4 point is that the 4 point also has built in sway control along with weight distribution (WD). Your 2 point only has WD..

Do you have sway issues? If no,maybe it's a moot point.

Think about cost, time to hitch/unhitch, storage of parts, weight of hitch, complexity of hitch and how well your current vehicle tows your trailer with whatever you use now.

Some variables: actual weight of TV, tongue weight of trailer, air pressure in TV and trailer tires and all the variables in the tires themselves (sidewall stiffness, age, tread, construction (to name a few)

Also remember there are two things you want to accomplish: weight distribution and correcting/controlling trailer sway.

Everyone towing has their own experience. Few have a wide range of experience and very few have a rig (TV & trailer) that is the same as yours. Be critical of
every recommendation and always decide for yourself.

There are MANY hitches to choose from. A case can be made for each one. The best hitches (Hensley & ProPride) are expensive, heavy and can take some time to get used to. I've towed with a Hensley and can confirm it is a superb hitch. I currently tow with a semi-generic WD hitch from Reese and it works surprisingly well. YMMV

Bottom line: If what you have works, you can spend more money and you may experience a change (good or bad). If what you have now is not working for you, read the manual, understand what it says and confirm your hitch is set up correctly. Work with a real-live hitch shop (not the average RV dealer) if you need help. After that, you pay your money and you take your chances.

I know a couple that absolutely loves their ProPride 3P and another couple trying to get rid of their Hensley Arrow. They said there are a lot of used Arrows on the market.

I've used two different capacity Equalizer 4 ways, a Blue Ox Swaypro with two different capacity bars, and an Andersen, all with the same trailer and tow vehicle and sometimes more than one on the same trip. I highly recommend the Equalizer. Best combination of ease of use, neutral handling and elimination of sway.

You tube some videos of weight distribution hitches and look also at Etrailers they have really good info and reviews. Make a informed decision that you think best suits you. The other thing you could do is next time you go to a CG ask around and see what people have and see how they like it and if they have any issues. I did this and it was very helpful for me.
