Looking Tow vehicles

Well I will be in the market for a new truck when the new body style comes out. but I thought just for kicks I'd see what was available on dealers lots. Well I check 10 dealers in my area Dodge and Chevy. Come to the Conclusion I will most likely order a truck. Every truck I found was a 4x4 diesel talk about pushing to make money they got the bait out. At about a $2600 option for 4x4 and then all the other add on no wounder trucks pushing 65 grand. No thank you. Just for kicks I went to the two sites and built my 3/4 tons and priced out at around @49,000 lot better and I get WHAT i want. Anyway it was fun playing till I get ready to order a new one. Later RJD

It's no surprise you couldn't find a truck...you're looking at all the wrong brands.

Check out Bill Holt Chevrolet in Canton if you haven't already. They usually have a good selection and they are very good folks to deal with in my experience. I bought the DW a new 2018 Impala Premier their last fall off their lot. It had all the boxes checked so she has everything she wanted, in the color she wanted, plus some! Brandon in Sales was very helpful and there was zero high pressure "stuff".

We usually order our vehicles as we also prefer to get exactly what we want which is seldom sitting on the dealers lot. We were lucky with the Impala. I've found the 6-12 weeks projected delivery for customer orders is usually close to 6-8 weeks.

Welcome to Jeff Belzer's Chevrolet in Lakeville

I found my truck here ^...the prices were unbeatable when I was looking.
The salesman said they have people fly in to pick up a vehicle from out of state about every day.

It sounds like you want 2wd which will limit selection on their lot but they do stock a pretty decent selection of gassers...might be worth a look.

Good luck.

You might contemplate having your tow vehicle just that , a dedicated tow unit , not your everyday transportation.

A use tractor from an 18 wheeler with a good sized sleeper cabin can be re registered as an RV , with a couple of goodies installed.

It will tow the largest 5th wheel as if it weren't there.

The RV conversion brings down the registration to cheap, the insurance to really cheap , and to get about town there is no need to drive a heavy expensive inefficient truck.

No CDL is required , although you might kave to learn to stick shift.

Thanks but I Don't need that big a truck to tow my tt. My 3/4 ton is mostly dedicated to just towing. Later RJD

I’ve seen your trailer. You NEED a 1 ton dually. [emoji33]
Seriously though, don’t rule out a 3500 srw. You might be surprised to find one for less than a 2500.

Keep in mind that there are issues when a redesign is being released. Most are discovered after release or during production in the early stages. If you really want the new model, I'd wait a year so they can get all the bugs out.

Safe and happy travels.

Well wen't out today and ordered a new truck. 2500 dodge Ram 6.4 gasser. This will be a first for me for not getting a GM. Just tired of there trucks with little changes till 2020. Got the Ram with the tougher looking grill. Looks good. Should have it in about 8 weeks. Later RJD

Look up Dave Smith in Kellog Idaho at least to compare. They sell both GM and Dodge. They have literally that whole valley filled with inventory and have consistently been the #1 Dodge dealer in the world in volume mostly trucks. So you fly up, buy in Idaho, stop in Montana on the way home, set up an LLC and skip the sales tax as well. Might as well get a new 5th wheel here while your at it with all the savings.

Well at least 2 things prevent from doing this. One I don't fly and 2 the truck is already ordered and actually 3 I get a great deal here and save 4000 off truck plus my trade. And probably no 4 would be they would not have the truck I want. Buy what I want not what they have. Matter of fact did a search and the truck I wanted was not to be found anywhere. Later RJD

Was RAM still offering 0% financing for 36 months?
I am guessing you went quad cab 6-1/2' bed? or did you buy the land yacht with 8' bed?
Trim package? Tradesman, SLT, Big Horn, ... inquiring minds would like to know

I ordered the Big Horn crew cab 6.4 box with air ride suspension. I was looking to go 8ft box and backed out at last min due to length. One thing Chevy had going was 8ft box extended cab which I had plenty of and liked them. Yes they had the 0% financing but got better deal with out it as I usually do not take loans out anyway. It was time for me to trade as actually the truck was built in March of 2014 as a 15 and that is about as long as I keep a truck. I wanted a change and for now this was the best route to go as the new body styles do not arrive for the HD trucks until 2020. The Dodge will have the Ram grill in it so it looks like a new body style.. Will be the first non GM truck I ever owned. Hope it works. I will post pic in about 8 weeks. Later RJD

No problem, but for anybody else thinking, they do have over 1200 Ram pickups on the lot right now, 690 of them 2500 or 3500's they just might what you are looking for. I have never bought there myself but I love that they are out there keeping the pressure on the competition.

All my work vehicles which are service vans are GM...

When purchasing a tow vehicle I went Ram and haven’t looked back since. Tows better than any GM I’ve had in the past. I don’t use it for a daily driver. I do drive it occasionally on the weekends and it rides great. The 5 link rear suspension is nice.

Congrats on the new wheels and welcome to the Ram Fam!

Thanks. Anyone have the auto level system? How does it work. Later RJD

Just curious....a gasser huh? Our RAM was a first time CDJ product for us. For me personally, a diesel is a tool. My daily driver is a 2003 Silverado 1500 which I constantly abuse but still love, especially since I haven't hit 100K yet. Good luck with the new RAM- you're gonna love it!
