Mirror extensions for my upgraded TV
I recently upgraded to a 2018 Chevy 1500, it tows my Grey Wolf 23DBH like a dream, my only complaint is the tiny car like mirrors that come standard on this truck. does anyone have a solid recommendation for mirror extensions? I've seen some on Amazon but several of the reviews talked about how they can cause scuff marks.

I used these for a few shorter trips and they did ok. Didn’t scratch or scuff the chrome mirrors.

Then I took the plunge and upgraded to ClearView mirrors and they’re amazing. Doesn’t look like they make them for the Silverado. Are there OEM tow mirrors that are available?

Shawn, look into the "CIPA" brand mirrors for RV towing. I am on my second set of these, due to changing trucks. I really like them, they go on easy and are very secure once mounted. They are custom molded for your mirrors, just slide them on with the wedge thingy and tighten the knob. You may have to go to their website being as you have a new '18 truck. When I bought my '14 GMC I had to contact them as I could not find any info on ordering and they informed me that the mirrors for the '14 had just been put into production. Something like $65 for the pair. I keep a soft bag in my toolbox to put them in when not being used to keep them from getting scratched up.

Recommend CIPA slip on towing mirrors - google for a list of vendors. Custom fit for all brands. No scratches and they won't fall off. Best solution would be factory installed extendable towing mirrors, but the CIPA brand works for me.

Also a recommendation for CIPA. Cheap, work great, readily available at Amazon and other retail outlets, and are vehicle-specific.

If you want something permanent and factory looking go aver to the GM-Trucks.com forum and search for "DL8, DL3, Towing Mirror Upgrade" and you'll find out how to add factory or aftermarket tow mirrors to your truck.

Pretty sure I had the CIPA mirrors (or at least a very similar solution) on my old F150 and they worked great! just haven't been able to find the 2018 Chevy equivalent.
thanks for the name brand to give me something to search for, hopefully I can find them on the vendors website as was recommended.
I'd love to add a nice big set of factory installed extendable mirrors eventually but not quite in the budget right now (oldest is heading to UCONN in the fall )

We used the strap on mirrors. Unless you keep the rubber bands absolutely free of bug guts, you will wind up replacing them every year. We switched to the custom fit CIPA mirrors and it is like night and day. No more vibration and the mirrors look like they are part of the truck mirrors. Strongly recommend the CIPA mirrors (unless you have an additional $850 laying around for the Chevy large towing mirrors that integrate into the existing mirror-control system).

My Silverado 1500 had the same issue. Not being able to find what I wanted I ordered a set of replacement mirrors off of ebay and changed them out completely. Now I have tow mirrors which should be an option on the 1500 but isn't. No they aren't pretty chrome but I can extend them when I tow my camper, retract them when I don't and fold them in when I need to go into a car wash or tight spot. Being able to see beside and behind me to be safe is worth it!

If you cannot find them, look at Camping World. That's where we found ours.

The K-Source Snap-n-Zap fit my F-150 perfectly. When installed you can't tell they are an add-on mirror. E-trailer has them marked way down to about the same price as the CIPA mirrors

I ordered my 03 GMC 2500 HD with the factory extendable towing mirrors, it's the feature that I like least about my truck which is still going strong with 147K. I don't think they give you much more visibility extended than they do retracted and I don't trust the extension mechanism at all anymore. Had some extension mirrors on my 96, didn't think they added much either. I just make do with my mirrors retracted. 2017 2618 Ultra V

Add-on Mirrors
Don't know if these would work but I use them on my Navigator and love them.

Only took my two other types that didn't work to find them.

I had those same mirrors on my truck. I threw a rock into one them while mowing. One insurance claim later and I have now have real towing mirrors. I got two off of ebay or amazon for the price of one oem-deductible. Best upgrade I made to my truck.

Another fan of the CIPA mirrors. Mounting / dismounting is a breeze. (Just be sure not to lose the small plastic wedge that is used.) Ordered online and couldn't be happier.

Tow mirrors
I purchased a set of tow mirrors to replace my factory mirrors on my 2014 F150 from Amazon, Ebay also sells them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-Power-...sAAOSwUq9bMk3C
They were easy to install and had all the features of my factory mirror plus they are extendable.

I have the CIPA on a 2012 Tahoe and they work GREAT. Once you have them on and tightened down there's virtually no movement on them. Some of the other brands of extension mirrors have issues with road vibration distorting the view.

I also used these and they were actually very good. They ratchet tight and don't shake. I have a set in my storage that I no longer use.
