That modern one above is a Tow-Buddy, but they are apparently out of business.
Tow-All is the current version of this. Kinda neat:
Updated version, not sure of the price but looks well thought out and probably $$$:

I do not know what I would do if I saw this or one in a homemade setup. We do not allow rv double towing... But I do not know if that is what I would call it.. Who am I kidding, I'd probably look at it it say what the f... And go the other way!

So every UPS or Fed-Ex truck that has doubles is triple towing because of the dolly?

Wasn't the trailer in The Long Trailer supposed to be a 40ft?
That Electric car would not have enough weight on the tires to pull a 5er.
As far as the guy pulling that 5er backwards and the one pulling a 5er with the Blazer, I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go round.
I wonder how far the Blazer got before the springs broke.

I'd be willing to bet the tailgate ripped off quicker than the springs gave out.

Not sure what you are asking but commercial vehicles are a whole other breed than personal. Commercial can double tow (triple tow, gets argued either way as just a different term). I've heard it as two trailers, ignoring the converter gear, or triples even if no converter gear present..
Anyways.. Commercial can be done using two trailers with a pintle, or using converter gear (or converter dolly same as above, diff terms). But they need to stay under a certain length and are only allowed on Interstates and certain highways during certain hours and such. Basically only allowed just off major INTERSTATES so they can get to their yards to break down the load at a distribution center. Otherwise they are "Off Route" and it is a several hundred dollar fine.
Passenger double towing is technically illegal in PA regardless of where you are or where you are from. But, I'll be honest it is not seen often around here (maybe further west in PA but not on the Eastern side). That being said on an interstate I do not know if you'd get pinched for it on a local road I'm sure you'd be stopped. Whether you get a ticket for it is up to the officer.

Doc73 -
So the dolly counts as double towing? That's good to know.

Yes, here it does, in PA. I would not assume it would be the same in other states but could be. Here for a personal usage, depending on the weight the dolly would weigh (GVWR) it would need its own tags, and inspection. It would be treated as a trailer on its own.
