New hemi motor on hold

I was attempting to order a truck for my job, a 2019 Ram 1500 with, apparently, a new 5.7 hemi for this year. They went to order the truck and got a weird message saying that they could not place the order. Fast forward a few calls to ram.. Turns out that motor failed the federal emissions testing and all the production has been stopped for that motor and any vehicles using that motor cannot be ordered.. Guess I'll be driving an f150 soon.. I did like the rambox!

Missed the last part.. Ram tells us that it could be up to 8 months before we can get an order placed.. Ouch!

Yea, you aren't missing anything but Ticking and Smoking.. Like the old commercial, " That thing Got a Hemi in it?" " Yea, can't you hear that lovely Hemi tick and see the puff of smoke at startup? Sure it has A Hemi!"
My 6.4 performed well, but I absolutely hated the smoke and tick it would leave sometimes.

I'm guessing the engine combo was the new one with the e-torque 5.7 Hemi. Later RJD

I use my work truck pretty hard it's holding up good for being in 2013 doesn't bother me.. have just over a 120,000 miles on it between the idle time and drive time.

I'll stick with the ram if we can get it.

I have the 5.7 L hemi in my 2016 Dodge Durango R/T... I have 24K miles on it and I love it... lots of power, no smoke or other obnoxious behavior... just a lot of power (360 hp) and torque (390) and that heartwarming grrrrowl we all know and love. Makes a great toad as well with the 2 spd transaxle.

Yeah, been a Chevy guy for personal vehicles but I have zero issues.. Relooked at my miles try 150,000... Still screams along and does its thing. It's only being replaced due to its "time" to be rotated from the fleet. It will remain in service for a long time.

I considered a 2500 Ram diesel when I was looking at my current chevy. But Chevy had what I wanted on the lot and was 10k cheaper...

If you're going to order an F150, get the heavy duty tow and payload package, later you'll be able to get an ultra lite 5r next. Got an 2011 F150 EB HT 11,200 and HDL 2,394 (E rated tires) with 3.73 towing 2018 ultra lite 5r, no problems yet.

Just purchased a new 2019 RAM Big Horn Lonestar Sport package. I've been a Toyota guy for quite a while, but I chose to upgrade from Tacoma Prerunner v6 4.0 to a 5.7 v8 hemi. Looking forward for my new year, new truck, new camping season. So far I'm enjoying the comfort, with so much more luxury of the interior trim level package. I can't wait to see how my upgrade does. I decided to take it to work today since I just purchased it last weekend.

This will never haul anything more than a few message boards.. Creeper and some tools Now with that 1/2 ton payload, I'm not sure if it can handle the 500lbs sign...

Never heard of any of these issues but I am not a ram / dodge person so I'd have no reason to hear of them.. We. Have three rams, 6 chargers, a Durango.. No issues. Now the ford explorers all kinds of emissions issues.

I went from a 2013 ram to an f150... I hate it. It's a nice truck, but, creature comforts in ram are better. Infotainment system better. Not sure what this issue is, but, my next one will be a ram.

Look up Hemi Tick.. I Mean it's so common they gave it it's own name. Look up smoke at startup also. If you don't have it, feel blessed! Oh don't forget the manifold Bolts!

My 2012 RAM 2500 Hemi 4X2 has 84,000mi, much of which were towing our 12,500lb 5th wheel. It is still very new like. Only 2 problems so far...a very expensive NAV Radio system (covered by warranty in year 5) and a very expensive Key Fob (not covered by warranty in year 6).

Still on original battery and original tires. The tires will need to be replaced before the next long trip, but, it won't be my next trip. We're in the process of ordering a 2019 Ram 3500 CTD needed for the new 5th wheel.

I didn't see any mention of MPG? Above someone stated that the Chevy on the lot was cheaper then the Ram. That has not been my experience. When I last looked, September 2019, diesel, CC, long bed, apples to apples regarding upscale packages. Ram was lowest cost, made in Mexico by foreign auto company. Ford was next and for a Chevy/GMC the largest dealers in the Houston Texas area when questioned on why was their price so high when they are compared to Ram and Ford they stated that it was a very good price for that truck.
I ended up with the 2019 F350 XLT CC long bed 4X4 SRW. Good Luck

I don't track MPG routinely other than occasional looking at the MPG meter in the info center. I normally see low 10's mpg to the high 11's with an occasional bump above 12 on Level highway towing @62MPH. The lowest I've seen in 3 going uphill in Utah and 65 going downhill in Colorado.
