we have both the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie and the 2019 Ram 2500 Big Horn .. the 1500 is 2 1/2 yrs old and has 23,300 miles on it and the 2500 will be 2 yrs old in June and has 23,000 miles on it .. overall we like the 2500 over the 1500 .. dash and layout appears the same, the one visual difference is the location of the window controls (WOW) and the 2500 does NOT block as much of your view when turning at intersections .... really little differences, but be careful what you wish for ... more trinkets means more bugs

I don't know all the details between the 5th gen 1500s and 4.5 gen 2500s, but as far as I could tell, the front of the cab looked the same. I believe the rear in the 1500 does not have the transmission hump and the cab overall is smaller in the 2500 because a 1500 and 2500 with a 6.4 foot bed is the same length, so you are losing a little big of legroom in the 2500. However, in my case, there is still plenty of leg room and I am actually glad the truck is a little shorter than some of the GMs because it is just under 20 feet and will fit in the garage
I love my 2020 2500 gasser! Like others have said, it like gas, especially when towing! But I didn't buy a 3/4 ton gas truck for the gas mileage!
For those of you that state it rides like crap, you're right! I added a Thruen torsion sway bar to replace the massive stock one. It is the BEST single modification I have ever done to a suspension to increase ride quality. HANDS DOWN!!!
I am currently waiting for the Bilstein 2" leveling kit with their remote reservoir shocks (x4) to come back in stock. I have heard this really helps with the ride quality as well.
If you want to keep the stock height but want to increase ride quality, invest in the torsion sway bar from Thuren or Carli; you won't be disappointed!!!

Correct it’s a bigger cab with a flat floor. Rear legroom is +4 or 5 inches and also rear ventilated & reclining seats.
Pano roof vs sunroof. Gen 5 also has a telescoping steering wheel.
Yes overkill, is the best way for a camper
I pull maybe 6500 lbs of a 25 ft box...hitch to trailer bumber, just short of 30ft with a 2500 6 7... dont need a WDH, just a sway bar....never know its back there, especially on hills with plenty of skinny pedal left to use!

I went camping for the first time this season and noticed so many 30'+ trailers there with very high end half tons thinking "oooh what an overkill I am going to have". But then I saw a few HD trucks there with some smaller trailers and it made me think I am not alone
I have had the truck a couple weeks now and went camping for the first time this past weekend. I really discovered what you guys talk about on here about towing with a bigger truck. Even though I still have the popup that probably only weights 2500 pounds or so loaded, I could definitely feel it with my old truck, especially going up mountains and it would occasionally sway a bit if I got up a little over 70 or if it was windy and it would shake the truck a bit which was not fun. As expected, I can't even feel the thing with this new truck. I get what you guys mean about the stopping power too and love how this truck even held a pretty steady speed going down the hills without even having to brake much. Even if I end up keeping the popup for a while or if we change our minds about getting a TT, I won't mind having the extra power of this truck

Definitely not alone![ATTACH]

Dodge/RAM does this a lot. I believe the first time the 1/2 ton had the new body first was 2002, with the 3/4 and 1 ton not getting the new body until 2003. And it's continued.

Yes its nice to have that extra power and a more stable platform...some of that half ton stuff scares me, while it says it can do it; doesn't mean you should!
I know those half tons get tossed around by wind and Ive noticed tractor trailer drivers love to see a questionable setup like that and ease over as they go by just to see it wiggle.
I dont like those smaller brake calipers either, especially on long down grades!
Personally it doesnt make sense to buy a high end 1/2 ton when you can leave the lot with a less expensive "not so high end" 2500 series, but then again I want a truck for its intended purpose and not a vanity thing, so I settled on a Ram tradesmans with the diesel engine for just a pinch less than 40k in 2017.
That exhaust brake and hill climbing capability, along with having an extra 30k in the bank is worth more to me than having some kind of 1/2 ton platinum edition with a questionable load and capability!
Enjoy your 2500 and never look back!
