new tires?

FRiver 2018 251RKS TTrailer with OEM Constancy ST 225/75/15, load rating D, speed rating L 75mph, less than 5,000 miles, replace with Goodyear ST Endurance 225/75/15 load rating E, unsure of speed rating or Michellin 16 inch LT truck tires? Planning on buying 5 tires?

I'd suggest the Endurance tires. If you go to the LT's you'll have to have new wheels, and you'll also have to be aware of the load capacity because LT tires aren't rated for the same load as the same size ST tire. Looks like you've already figured that out by moving up to 16" LT tires.

My advice is the Goodyear Endurance.

Made a world of difference on my 5th wheel.

For your trailer, stick with the stock size and load rating and buy the tire that reviews the best and has the best support in your area. E rated tires are unnecessary.

At times, it is good to step up to a heavier rated tire; however, in your case there is very little benefit.

Reasoning: Your trailer's GVWR is close to 7768. The tongue carries approximately 800 as your axles are each rated for 3500 each (7,000 lbs total). The Constancy (and other D rated tires) in that size are able to each carry 2540 lbs @ 65PSI. That's a total of 10,160 load carrying capacity by the tires on axles rated for 7000 pounds. Surveyor actually did their trailer right by mounting tires with ample capacity. The E rated tires in that size will give you 11,230 of carrying capacity.....but is it really needed or noticeable?

For what it's worth, I recently swapped the Constancy's off my Surveyor for Maxxis M8008 D rated tires through Discount tire.

I paid $576 out the door and Discount gave me a 10% rebate card for $57. Instead of paying the disposal fee, I took the Constancy's home and put them on Craigslist for $160 and sold them the next day. My total out of pocket cost for new tires on the trailer came out to be $359.

Depending on the type of camping you do the rating of the tires does make a difference. I camp at some remote spots I'm not concerned with weight however the higher rated tire (more plus) is better at resisting stone punctures which happen around here.

Buying new tires for my 2014, 26' Forest River TT, 25,000 miles on old tires with no real problems. They are showing enough tread wear and minor dry rot to warrant replacement. I am thinking about Maxxim D rated tires. Any comments? Bill

It seems the most recommended ST tires on most R/V forums are (in no particular order) Goodyear Endurance, Maxxis M8008's and Carlisle HD.

When I upgraded my tires from 'D' to 'E' range tires...

The 'E' range tires were only $1.00 dollar more per tire than the 'D' range tires were.

Was a no brainer for me.

I just put E range Goodyear Endurance on my Rockwood. My castlerocks had about 6000ish miles on them. One was flat this spring. I kept the CR on the spare. I can not honestly noticed a difference in towing it, but I have also changed the tires on my truck and have a different hitch too, sooo....

D range was on it before, and honestly had plenty of capacity for my 8200 gvwr. But figured the $40 in total cost more to go to E was worth it.

Before I decided, I debated between the GY, Maxxis, and Charlisle also. I ruled out Maxxis since they cost the most. Charlisle was about $20 cheaper per tire than the GY. I decided on the GY after the tech at Discount Tire showed me both tires side by side. The GY has a nice reinforced sidewall and was stiffer in general. In related news, Discount Tire was good to work with on both my truck and tt tires. Very helpful.
