New to me Grey Wolf 26RR

Hello All,

I bought a used 2019 26RR a couple of months ago near my friend in Michigan. I am in Daytona. He just delivered it yesterday, pretty exciting. Anyway, I looked at the Curt WD hitch that came with it and it is rated for 6000 lb, and 600 tongue weight. My trailer gross weight is 7775, so tongue is roughly 800 lbs. Empty weight is 5000 lbs. So it appears the hitch is fine when empty but a little shy when fully loaded. So, do I need a new WD hitch, or will the current one work. Just wondering what the main difference is, the torsion bars, or the hitch itself. Current hitch is a Curt, and it has the friction sway control installed. My friend that towed it down from Michigan said it towed fine. Thanks in advance, Kim

Congrats on your 26rr. We had one before getting a bigger TH. Not many issues with it. I did a lot of mods and documented them on here. Pimp my 26rr. Search the thread. Others also posted their mods on this thread also.

Good luck. As far as WDH that would’ve your call. I used equalizer and changed to Husky centerline with 1200 trunnion bars. They had built in 4 pt Sway control.

I think I would invest in a hitch that is exceeds the GVWR of the trailer and bars the exceed the tongue weight. WDH 8k or 10 bars 1K JMHO

Using a Weigh Safe hitch, The dry tongue weight of my 26rr is 700LB. That's with two 6v, GC2 batteries on the tongue. At the CAT scale unloaded/dry the trailer is 4820LB. For towing i use a Equal-i-zer 10k WDH.

I will look into it or get a larger /correct size Curt, so I can use the sway control gizmo with Curt. Thanks
