New to rig

It looks as if my 2015 Ram 2500 crew cab long box is going to be totaled after an elderly gentleman turned directly in front of me in a 55 mph zone. I run a Ranch Hand style bumper on my trucks which is probably why I didn't end up in the hospital.

I have the Ram Fifth wheel Goose neck prep package in my truck where the hitch mounts into sockets in below the bed. The truck I found that I like is a Ram 2500 crew cab short box (74") my question is am I going to need a slide hitch? I had one in older trucks but never needed to use it. I really don't want to buy a new hitch just to find out I don't need it. Does anyone have a Ram 2500 crew cab short box (74") that can give me their actual experience?

I have a 2010 crew cab short box and when I ran a conventional fifth wheel hitch I had a slider. My camper had the rounded front cap that is standard on most all newer campers and I never needed to slide the hitch. I could not turn to 90* but I could turn tighter than the tires wanted to.
