Smile New Tow Vehicle

Traded in my Ram 1500 for a new Ram 2500, my question setting up hitch I will be pulling a Rockwood 2612WS. Other than setting the ball height to match my 1500 what else should I be looking for or checking?
My current hitch is a Equal-i-zer, 1,000/10,000 with sway control, tongue weight with the hitch included is 920 lbs hand calculated by using Cat Scale weights.

Thanks all.

Not much else to check. A lot of people say you don't need a WDH for an HD truck but I notice a difference.

Are you using the reducing sleeve or getting a larger hitch shank?

Going to try the reducing sleeve see how it works but if I don't have enough length on the shank to lower the ball to the correct height then I will definitely upgrade to a 2 1/2" shank. I was also wondering about the need for WDH but was going to use as I got it.
All I can think is I'm in for a whole new world of towing with a 2500.

The 2500 will not sag as much, so not only will you have to adjust as you have on hitch height, but you shouldn't need as much adjustment with the bars as you had on the 1500.

Even though I just upgraded to a 3500 from a 2500 on a 10K lb trailer (5th wheel in the near future), I still use my WDH, even though it was not "needed" even on my 2500. You do notice the difference with the weight on the front end. Sway control is always a good thing, although I have towed with no problems without, I like the added security.

Height

When i went from my f150 to the ram 2500, I used the reducing sleeve and my stock shank I was using (can't remember the brand, but went down 2 holes compared to the f150. I towed about a 7K trailer with no issues. in 2018 we bought a new RV that weighed in around 10K and used the reducer with that was well. I used WD on both RVS.. When we bought our new Ram 3500, I continued to use the WD and reducer until we got our fifth wheel.

I will say I was very pleased how the 2500 Handled the load when towing in terms of stability. very stable platform and I never felt uneasy even in higher winds. The 3500 really didn't feel any more stable with 10K behind it. They are a good truck.

As it turns out will need a new shank, need an additional 2" of drop to get the ball height to match my 1500 and it will have 2 1/2" receiver coupler.
