Yep. I went from a 2002 Ford F-250 to a 2017 F-350 - what a difference. They were both Lariat trim levels too.

I agree! Nice looking truck. Any of the 3 out there are nice for towing larger rigs. Pick what you like and drive safe! Each of the 3 have likes and dislikes!

Above all, thank you for your service. A worn term I know, but I for one who never served, really appreciate and support those of you that have!

I towed for the 1st time today... from the back yard to driveway...about 50' total. The Ford needed a break after that. With 250 miles on the odo...did I void my warranty? Should I get a diesel?

Yeah it's so funny and fun to say to someone that just bought a new Ford "shoulda bought a Chevy" or "you know that Ford means found on road dead right?". Hahahaha so funny. Off

Warranty joke aside, does the engine or rear end require break-in? Our 2017 Ram required the break-in for the rear end only, so I tried to heat cycle it a few times at the beginning. Although the engine is already broken-in, the manual still recommended loading the engine for the first 5k miles I think to help it out. I think we accomplished that .

First and foremost thank you for your service, secondly retirement is better than they said it would be, thirdly enjoy your TV and TT. We all have our preferences when it comes to TVs and TTs and it all comes down to one simple question, is there a smile on your face when you climb into your 250 and head off down the highway towing the 5er?

Happy Trails

My manual says give it 1000 miles before towing

Engine I guess?
From the manual:

"You need to break in new tires for approximately 300 mi (480 km). During this time, your vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving characteristics. Avoid driving too fast during the first 1,000 mi (1,600 km). Vary your speed frequently and change up through the gears early. Do not labor the engine. Drive your new vehicle at least 1,000 mi (1,600 km) before towing a trailer. Make sure you use the specified engine oil."

Nice truck, and thank you for your service.

You can get a nice Leer camper shell to finish it off

I would have gone F250 when I let my F150 go and went to a 3/4 ton, but it was 249 inches, in my 249 inch garage...went with the GMC2500 Duramax, very happy with it.

Or this:

Did you know that 80% of all (Fords, Chevys, Dodges, GMCs or whatever brand you want to poke fun at) built since 2000 are still on the road? The other 20% made it to the repair shop.

Congrats! I just picked up my new F250 6.2L last week. So far I love it. Still trying to get miles on it before I leave on my trip on Monday.

Good Luck and Safe travels.

New TV

Towed for the first time this morning. I was very impressed with 6.2L. Handled the camper much better than the old Dodge. I’m a believer.

We have a set of scales at the new job. Came in at 17900, the truck weighed 7080.

I've got a 2015 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0L...retired my old 1996 Dodge Ram 1500!

I made sure to get the 4.10 rear end and it is a trailer hauling beast!

Looks like it rides pretty level from the pic anyway. Mines still nose high. Glad you like it, I've been happy myself. Hope you continue to enjoy.

It’s a little nose high, hard to see it in the pic. Not nearly the squat as compared to my old truck. Certainly more stable, my guess is the Ford has a foot or two on length compared to the quad cab Dodge which might explain it. The integrated brake control is the bomb. I think my old Prodigy what giving up towards the end. Not quite as much giddy up as the Cummins but it does a good job making up for it as it frequently changes gears and and keeps the rpms where the power is. I’m a happy camper (and camper tow-er).
