Off Road Tires and Towing?

What Tires do You Use for Towing and Off Road? I go Off Road Sometimes and I'm wanting to Change to a Great Towing Tire.

I have mudclaw extreme 35/12.5/18 and tows good with no sidewall roll on curves. E rated tire. And has great grip off road

BFG KO2's

Hands down THE best tire I've ever owned. E rated, is great in the snow and rain, and is not too loud. Tread life is amazing.

I'm sure the Mudlcaw is good, I've never owned it.

I have Falken Wildpeak AT3s on my F-150. LT275/65R18s. Good E rated AT tire. I've had them up to the rim in soft mud when hunting and they've hooked right up and gone. Decent traction on wet pavement, very little buzz. Price was quite nice too ($500 less than BFG)

I run my truck all year. it sees snow, ice, mud, sand, farm fields, and pavement. I love my Kuhmo Road Venture AT51 tires. they are quiet, dont hold rocks at all, and are severe snow service rated. they have great road manners and dont rumble or howl on the highway. the performance is outstanding, the lower price compared to other AT tires is just icing on the cake!

Ran the BFG KO2s for years. Great tire, except for the horrible mileage. Seems like no matter what pressure I ran, the center tread would wear out too quickly. They don't have a mileage warranty. I just switched to the Cooper Discoverer ATP. They seem to be wearing much slower than the BFGs did. They have a 55k warranty. I'd be happy to get 40. I was getting about 25 from the BFGs.

What do you mean by "off-road?"
If you're towing a trailer, what sort of challenges do you face when towing?

If this is more about off-road adventures when NOT towing, Consumer Reports does a regular (annual) article on LT All-Terrain tires that provides enough info to enable you to choose based on your priorities. They don't report on "mudders," but if you're looking for all AT tire that suits your needs, that's a good place to start.

I've gone back to Michelin all-seasons, because Colorado is dry, and I ran a set of Cooper AT tires to the nubbins in just 20,000 miles.

BFF k02’s are great tires. For a great value, I went with Toyo open country. I got a little sour after two of my khumos developed vibrations and they would not warranty them after 2/32nds of use.

I'm with Jim. Tow a lot, 4 wheel a little, Michelin LTX's can't be beat. Tow a little, 4 wheel a lot, Kumho's are a better choice.

X2. The Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires are the best I've owned on a truck. Good on forest service roads and light duty offroad (I don't do real offroading, so can't comment). They are good on wet surfaces. Pretty good on ice and snow here in CO.

They're a newer design that benefits from modern technology and modeling. They get good reviews elsewhere, too. The price-to-performance ratio is just unbelievable with these tires.

It's the only tire I've owned that I would definitely buy again. BFG AT are OK, but they use a really dated tread pattern and the value is pretty terrible (read: they're more expensive than they ought to be).

Had kumhos, there a soft tire and for the price they should of been good. Wore out in 20,000 miles. Never again

On my last truck (F250) I had the Toyo Open Country M/T. Great tire. Not too loud and great wear life. Trailer towed fine (5th wheel). My previous F250 had Cooper Discoverer STT. Basically the same as the Toyo. Again great wear life and a little louder than the Toyo. I wouldn't be afraid to tow with a MT tire.

Coopers are a great tire, had them on my F250 Kong’s ranch. Couldn’t wear em out it seemed. Great for towing. I got a killer deal on mudclaws, $770. So I couldn’t walk away from that. Lol. They are a little noisy, but handle 11,000 very nice

Yeah that's what I had them on a 2007 F250 King Ranch 6.0. Miss that truck!
