AstroBacon, I was in the same boat, 2016 Nisan Frontier Crew Cab. Been looking at campers. Frontier had 60K miles and needed tires and probably brakes , fluid changes etc. So for $21K I purchased 4 new tires that where attached to a NEW 2019 RAM 1500, 4x4 LongHorn CLUB Cab, 1,807 lbs payload. it's just me and my wife camping in a Flagstaff 21FDS Camper a little shorter and slightly lighter. Has no problem pulling but as you have found PAYLOAD is coming up short in the 1500 series. Not sure how a 2500 RAM will drive compared to a 1500 but maybe you should take a look if you like the ram. Good Luck And NO I didn't tow the 21FDS with my Frontier but did tow my son's 3k TT with no problem.

If you’ve got time to look or even order, an F150 with the HD payload package works great. 4800 lb, 3:73 axle, higher payload. Mine is 2440 lbs and you can get higher.

Here is weight sticker for the 3.0 with a 3.92 rear, it’s only 7,200 lbs GVWR, that’s the max for a 1500 Ram. It’s the same as the gas 5.7 because the engine isn’t the limiting factor, it’s the 1/2 ton chassis/axles/brakes that is the weak point

You need a 2500 to get 10,000 lbs GVWR

The 10,000 figure in my post was referring to Max Tow Capacity - GVWR is 7200 as you've stated.

We are disappointed. Absolutely love our 2019 Ram Rebel. Won’t get rid of it for anything. But just purchased our first camper based on the information we compiled from everyone on the forum. Thank god for everyone’s help. Our truck came with the braking system, towing mirrors and tow bar. Our payload is only 1488. But our towable is 11200. So we downsized what we bought. We got a 2507s with a tongue weight of 625. The one we were going to get was around 900.

X2, I have the same truck. Upgraded from a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. As posted earlier I am quite happy with the ride and how quite it is inside the cab. Not a car like ride like my Sierra but a 6 hr travel day is very comfortable

Definitely not. You'll be rolling down the road at 6,500 lbs with a 12-14% tongue weight. Your 2507S will have a tongue weight of around 850 +/- 50 lbs.

I only point this out to continue to encourage people to ignore these fictional, nonsensical factory dry hitch weights. At best, they're useless numbers and, at worst, they're misleading to the point of leading people to make poor decisions.

In theory, yes. To that extent, fasting the night before allows you to pull heavier.

It's meant to be a subtle reminder that people use real weights of themselves and family members ... not the doctor office weights where you're stripped down and on scales with somewhat questionable calibrations. Usually, my camping boots alone are another 5 - 7 lbs. Add everything up and I'm probably 10-15 lbs heavier than my doctor office weight. Do that 5 times for my family and it adds up.

I love mine - traded a 2017 Ram 1500 so I could buy a 5th wheel because I work out of town 6+ months a year - I'm very happy with both!

The 2021 limiteds have payloads as low as 1,000lbs, some under. Find the vin number of any you are interested in and go here. It’ll tell you the exact payload for that truck vs a pie in the sky brochure number.

I punched in a couple from a local dealer that didn’t have all the bells and whistles and payload ranged from 1,080 to the highest at 1,243. If you add ram box you lose another 200lbs from the 1,080 to under 1,000lbs. Big horns have anywhere from 1400-1750lbs from what I’ve seen, most rebels about 1400-1480lbs and Laramies from 1150-1450lbs. Good luck on the search.

I can tell you that the Mini/Micro Lites run very tongue heavy, typically closer to 15%. I'd plan on a 1,000 lb TW personally.

Our 2109S is 412 lbs dry and we are currently at 670 lbs with the front pass thru practically empty and LiFePO4 batteries moved to the rear of the trailer. Our trailer scales out at 4,500 lbs loaded.

When we had two 6V batteries on the tongue our TW was 760 lbs....

My 18 F-150 RWD Platinum will easily tow that trailer. You don't need a Medium duty or a diesel to do it, that is gross overkill. I was towing a 7600 GVWR trailer, 28' long with my Platinum, and stay under all ratings. It has 1557 payload. Just distribute the weight properly and keep the weight in the trailer, not the truck. I even have a topper on my truck. The GVW came out to 6600 pounds tops, just 200 under your trailers GVWR.
