Best trade up I've done tows way better then the TT did and also gained 2 MPG

We've got the same Escalade! Any issues towing that camper? What's the weight of it? My Escalade gets a little hot towing my camper and it's isn't as big, but I'm here in Florida.

Yeah, that's at that limit. I did the tranny cooler, too. Best mod, in my opinion. My heat issues are on the radiator cooling. It stays at half way on the gauge (205-210 on the ECU) but sometimes it will creep up to 230 (3/4 on the gauge) and then come back down. Just kind of sketchy. My camper is smaller at 4747 dry and barely over 5k with our gear. It does fine otherwise. Do you still have the air ride? With your hitch weight, it might struggle.

Yes, I do. Seems to handle it fine which I'm honestly a little surprised by. I do run a Trunnion Style WD hitch and think I have it adjusted properly.

When I hook it up it'll run for maybe 10-15 seconds or so and then shuts off. Pretty similar to how it normally operates.

I don't think I've ever had an issue with the system fighting my WD hitch which I've heard others complain about.

I've never seen my coolant temp above the normal range.

Dang, I've flushed my coolant and done water wetter. Radiator looks in good shape, new thermostat, new coolant hoses. Keep me posted how it goes as the summer comes in.

I'm betting you're over on payload. Payload is usually exceeded before towing capacity, and you're already almost at the limit on towing capacity (7600 2WD, 7800 AWD).

Tow capacity is 7800 or 8200 (depends on who you listen to). Officially it's 7800 I think. You're right about being at or over. I'm not happy about it. Max combined is supposed to be 14,000 for the rig and the trailer. When I weighed it the other day I was at 13,760 and that didn't include a full tank of gas or two of my family members.

I'm going to move some things around, remove some of the items I had in there I could probably do without and see where I land. I'm thinking I'll be slightly​ over or within 100lbs when I'm done.

The vehicle pulls great and outside of the tranny temp which I addressed with a larger cooler seems to be fine.

I am really worried about the weight though.. I sunk over $1000 into this thing after I bought it so I'm deeply in the red as an investment goes already.

The guy we bought it from basically hid the appropriate info from us. I was a newbie to purchasing a full size trailer and I think they took advantage of my ignorance. He told me that there was a brand new roof that was installed and I'm thinking "that's a bonus" but what he didn't disclose was that the old roof was still there and they'd added weight to the trailer when they did it.

Buyer beware I guess.

I got my towing numbers from the 2010 Trailer Life tow guide, attached. Your owners manual should have the real towing numbers, and your drivers door frame sticker should have your real payload.

Yeah, officially it's 7800 or 14,000 combined.

My front axle has somewhere around 340 left in it but my rear only has around 40 so i'm really close there. I may be able to adjust my hitch a little and move some of that weight up to the front. I also have probably 200lbs I could easily relocate to the rear of the trailer or remove all together. That should help a bit.

I do have an AWD vehicle with the pre-installed tow package.

Like I said I'm not thrilled with it.. anyone want to buy a camper? I got a real nice one I just sunk $1000 into I'd sell you for what I paid for it! [emoji1]

Edited to give exact amounts from my measurements at the truck shop.
