It's the payload number that you always exceed first. Did you use a CAT scale so you could see the weight on the 2 truck axles which would be the critical weight? Like you, I was OK on the other parameters. You said how much the trailer weighs and the combined weight, but not the weight of the Tacoma itself.

I know I'm a little heavy but my experience was that with the Tacoma (also 6500# GVWR) I weighed in right at 6480# with just myself and my lightest son in the cab and the trailer hitched up with not a lot in the truck bed. Maybe with a toy hauler your tongue weight is lighter than mine was with the Roo hybrid. But that's a long tail to be wagging behind a truck with a short wheelbase. Good choice to go with the Equal-i-zer 4 pt hitch.

If it's working for you, that's great. Just not what I expected.

Actually, toy haulers have heavier tongue weights than regular travel trailers. Yes I had the weight on the truck axles weighed as well and I was several hundred pounds below their ratings. I don't remember the exact weights off the top of my head but when I got the weight receipt, I checked the sticker in the door of the truck. I was nowhere near being over. by the way, my Tacoma is a long wheel base and the long bed. And I agree that the equalizer was the best hitch to go with. Works great.

This was our new (& first) trailer, the day we picked it up at the dealer....about 2 weeks ago. So, now, I've had the truck for 3 wks & the trailer for 2wks. I am learning a lot, but it is not nearly as nerve racking as I thought it would be.

Not being "Rushed' is the key. When we get 'there', where ever that may be, we are always on time, maybe even early. Alive. Great looking rig! Enjoy! Happy Trails!

You're making me feel better about the fifth wheel I'm dreaming of buying with a 2100 pound pin weight, since I have a 2500HD silverado crew cab.

Picked up this new beauty today I know it's not a fr product. But couldn't pass up the deal. And really wanted a toy hauler over our chaparral we just bought in January.

Both are good looking rigs Alex.mcintosh40, and I like your ultimate 5th wheel connection also.

Yep, Andersen is what I have also, I have the aluminum 3220 model. I have never towed with any other 5r hitch, but I can't imagine any of them being any better than this one.

Do towing videos count?

I made this one when I was receiving help on another forum for my initial setup.
