Unfortunately it already has 71k miles on it. But the price was right (at least it think it was) and it was newer than the other ones i looked at so it has the higher torque rating.

2017, it has the newest version of the Duramax engine in it, the L5P. It is a MONSTER for pulling, and by that I mean you DID VERY WELL.

If you have not already joined that Duramaxforum.com to learn about it, it is the best suggestion I could possibly make to help you.

The folks on there will be More than a little pleased to see you join. In your Introduction page tell them 407driver (my nic on there) sent you

Coming from a 2015 1500 silverado, it's deffinately (as suspected) a stiffer ride unloaded. I'm quite surprised how quiet it is, especially being a diesel. It's a little loud when first starting in the morning here in WI right now, but once she warms up it's not bad at all. The steering feels a little weird...almost like it has no resistance/weight on the front end. Not sure what that's about.
Other than that, i love it.

You can never have too much truck.

Congrats on the great truck purchase.

I got my 2018 Denali HD L5P this fall and installed a Curt A20 with exactly those frame brackets. They are perfect for mounting rails in the GM trucks using the provided OEM mounts. Did it myself [emoji106]

If it has the factory hitch system (puck) you should go that way. Leaves the truck bed usable when the hitch is removed. I had that system in mine and it worked well. The curt GMC puck system is rated at 20k so you could upgrade the head when you go for that bigger 5er the wife is asking for.

Very nice! That bad boy will tow anything you wanna hook up to!
I’m in the process of moving from a 15 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi and 4:10 gears, to a 19 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins. The Hemi is more than capable of towing my 26’ Vengeance toy hauler anywhere I want to take it but I’ve convinced myself that I need the Cummins to take into retirement in a few years! Truth be known I really just like the new Ram Limited interior and Features!! Good luck with the new ride!

I just purchased my first 3500 diesel GMC single rear wheel, even though it was new in 2015 I bought it this past spring with only 22,000 miles on it, it was used so little that it still had the protective plastic on the touch screen. Bottom line is we are towing a 39MBH from Heartland, with equates to 42' and 14,000 lbs. and with the 6.6 Duramax I can safely tow at average speeds of around 73mph and the tach is only at 1,800rpm, not a problem at all towing, I'm even averaging 13mpg, far cry from my 8 with my 6ltr gasser. I will say I am considering putting some air bags in the rear suspension but other than that you have gone on a great direction, good luck and enjoy.

Consider a set of Timbrens front and back. They are maintenance free and only effective when you add weight of your rig to them. I have a 3650SS GVWR 16,000. 2017 gmc 2500 Denali duramax and have a level rig and truck. Click image for larger version

It great that you can tow that big rig at 73 MPH, but in a panic situation, how are you gong to stop the damn thing at that speed!

Probably the same way he would stop it at 65 apply the brakes . Just a guess but i'd bet most rv related accidents are going under 30 fender benders etc .

Bed rail height with slider

Just make sure that the truck can tow your trailer level if you get a slider hitch. The slider adds about 2 to 3 inches to the trailer height in the bed. If the trailer does has a tapered front you will probably be better off without the slider depending on current height. I purchased a new Curt A 16 with the slider and had to remove it to get the nose down on the trailer. Just something to think about.
