Rear Kitchen vs Center Kitchen Towing

Good Morning,
I have been towing a 30' xlite 5th wheel, center kitchen with a 2005 Silverado 1500 for the past year and absolutely loved the way it tows...

Just ordered a new 32' 8280 rear kitchen...

Anyone out there with experience towing both types of campers have any info to offer or negative/positive feedback ???

A friend of mine had a rear kitchen and he had to pad anything glass. Alot more up and down on a rear kitchen than a center kitchen. I know you will love it though.

Have had,Front,Mid,and Rear Kitchen type. All worked out.Pack proper and you will be OK. PS, If you ever buy a M/H don't try to use the (Outside Kitchen) while going down the Road! Youroo!!

tried it with the 5th wheel, you need big wind guards and I had to stand on the lower step and hang on to the door handle !!!!

I pretty much pad the glass stuff now, so no changes there...

Met a guy this past weekend while camping that was not happy since getting a RK... said he had to get special air shocks, etc... really hated it...

live and learn, I guess...

We're enjoying our 4th year of camping with our 8280WS...haven't broke anything yet. We just put a pillow in the cabinets over the dishes to minimize movement.

I've found that the pin weight is around 15% unloaded or loaded as weight in the kitchen offset weight in the basement...tows fine at 15% pin weight. You'd have to load concrete blocks in the basement to get 20% pin weight on this camper.

Hey thanks, Dave... that makes perfect sense... I like that "Pillow in the Cabinet" trick... I don't anticipate any towing issues... was just curious what others have experienced... all positive so far...
I am amazed at the ease in towing a 5th wheel over a TT... all the difference in the world...

We have a RK TT with Torsion axles. Nothing moves.
Shocks and spring linkage may eliminate the troubles some have with bouncing.
I don't know.
I would like to see Torsion axles on every TT and Fiver and if not that, at least offer them as an option.

We have the rear kitchen and enjoy it. We do take all things off the counters or they end up on the floor. Don't ask how I know that. No issues with the dishes either. I made some racks with bungees that keep them settled in place.
