Rear tires on TV feathered, will they fix themselves?

I put new General Grabber ATX tires on my truck 25,000 miles ago. Like an idiot, I did not get an alignment and I did not rotate them. I rotated them last week (front to back) got them balanced and a front end alignment and the front end was out of whack. The ones that were on the front are feathered and cause an annoying vibration that won't go away.

Will the rear tires (that were on the front and have uneven/feathered tread) eventually wear down and not vibrate? I have an appointment tomorrow to get 2 new tires on the rear, but wouldn't mind saving the $500 if this will works itself out.

I've never had tires that were worn oddly because of alignment "fix" themselves when put on the rear.
If it's vibrating enough to notice, I'd replace them.
Years ago some shops would grind tires to clean up the bad wear.
You would lose miles of use but get something out of the tire.

UPDATE:

New rear tires installed. Oh my, I don't have to wear a mouth guard anymore! Life is good. I looked at my front tires and decided to replace them as well.

FYI, once a tire develops uneven wear, it is permanent and will not wear "correct" over time. Some tire shops have the ability to shave tires to correct wear issues if they are not in too bad a shape.

Now don't forget to rotate at regular intervals now. Don't know how your dealer works but mine will rotate and check balance for free since I bought the tires from him. I take it in every 5,000 miles.

Rotation is especially important on aggressive tread designs. They flex more and this leads to what's referred to as Heel/Toe wear. Regular rotations minimize the severity and allow much longer tire life.
