Reese Revolution: Does this look normal?

I'm new to the Revolution. I've lubed it up but It seems to be making a lot of creaking and groaning noises back there. In the pictures you see a larger separation in the back of the revolution than in the front.
Is this normal?
My dealer said he doesn't sell a lot of these and is unsure.

It's normal. the question has been asked here before and most revolution users will state the same. Thought I had some pics showing the exact same as yours, but must be on another PC.

Mine is similar when load is fully onto the hitch. I too get creaking and groaning from the hitch. Some of it is from the hitch head in the bed of the truck. If I keep both lubed with white lithium its pretty quiet but it does return after a while.

You can remove the cotter pin and check the torque to be 80 lb/ft per the factory guys that took mine off, cleaned and lubed it. They cautioned me about NOT lubing the pivot shaft itself and to only use white lithium grease on the flat pads. The gap at the rear is a common phenomenon of the hitch. We have close to 8,000 miles on ours and I really like it as I run a full bed tonneau cover while towing.

Same here, it is normal. The funny part is we all know about the revolution more than most of the dealers in the country put together.

Just wondering, would a teflon disk help or hurt?

Avoid the disc. IT ADDS NOTHING!

There is no place for a tephlon disc with a reese revolution when the wedge is installed but in the trash.

Thanks to all.
Couldn't understand how the dealer wasn't sure or not, but 5ers with the revolution do make up a small percentage of their stock.
I trust you guys way more anyway...
Thanks...Joe

Ah, okay, I use one with my Pull Rite because I did not want to grease my plate.

If you have activated the Reese Revolution by installing the wedge behind the hitchpin, you don't need it as it does absolutely nothing. Just put a small amount of grease on the ramp chute sides, the front of the hitchpin and the sides of the wedge and not on the ramp.

To the OP, yes your pictures look normal. My squeak groan immediately disappeared after using industrial spray graphite that I bought from Amazon (goes on like lacquer and has lasted for the season)

Old Coot, that is a great idea. Is that a homemade cover? I like to have my bed covered too.

No, it is a regular Undercover tonneau cover I bought on Craigslist. I have another one that I bought new when I got the truck. Couldn't talk myself into cutting up an $800 cover. Paid $70 for the one I used and still took 3 days of it setting in the garage for me to muster up the courage to take a Skilsaw to it.

I looked at your pics again and am wondering about clearances when you turn. Obviously it's NOT a problem, but I don't understand why. It looks like you cut the cover really tight to the pin box sides (if that's what you call it).

the gap in your revolution looks the same as mine. I have also had the problem with the creaking noise when turning. I tried to spray it with silicone and white lithium grease but it didn't work so what I did was to remove the large castle nut and remove the truck side of the pivot. this exposed the large pin that the hitch pivots on. I coated that with chassis grease and reassembled unit. I torqued the large castle nut to 80ftlb then turned it to align the next hole in the castle nut. After doing this it never creaked again. I don't think that the manufacturer lubricates them at the factory.
