Remote start screws up power mirror adjustment

Here's a weird problem. I've got a '13 Silverado with power towing mirrors. Whenever I get in my truck after using the remote start, I have to readjust the mirrors. I'm not talking about a minor tweak the mirrors go totally out of whack. Has anyone ever heard of this or have any idea why they are doing that?

Do you have memory seats? If so, the mirrors are tied in with that system. You may need to try to relearn the seat position with the remote you use. If that doesn't work you can PM me and I can check to see if there is a software update for that problem. I'm a former Chevy technician and now an instructor.

Yes, I do have memory seats but never use them. I set the position of the seats and mirrors manually when I first got the truck and have never moved them except when the remote start screws them up.

Try setting them manually - then SAVE that setting. The remote key fob that unlocks the door sets the seat to the preset position (at least on our Fords it does).

I bet you've still got it saved it to the factory preset position and that's what it's returning to each time you unlock it and remote start it. On Fords it re-positions the mirrors, seat, etc. all with each time the key fob is used.

You will need to look in the book to go through it correctly with the right remote. They are a little bit different so I can't tell you the exact procedure. Each remote is attached to one of the positions. Get it set and you should be good.

If that were true, wouldn't the seat position also get screwed up?

On my 2014 GMC They are independent of one another. I can set the seats and the mirrors. The mirrors stay where they are and I hit the button on the door and it sets the seat to the position I saved, but the mirrors stay put.

If the mirrors and seat moves to factory presets, the seat is right for timfromma, while the mirrors are not(?). Why the hell does anyone need memory seats and mirrors and be willing to pay for them?

Because the DW also drives the truck and simply because of her physical stature, she likes the seat and the mirrors completely different than what I need.

I'd NEVER own a vehicle without memory seats/mirrors.
When I get in the truck I just push a button (or use MY fob, hers is set for her) and it's right back to where I like things.

It bears mentioning that this mirror issue ONLY happens when I use the remote start. If I just key fob the door open, it's fine.

Factory remote start or aftermarket installed?

I bought the truck used with it already installed but I think it's factory.

I hope you don't get fobs mixed up... no one will know what to do. I won't have a truck with this crap, but that's why there are choices and new pickups with MSRP that just topped $100K

I'm not inept enough to not be able to work things manually so don't fret for me should we get the fobs juxtaposed.

Call it crap if you want... one man's crap is another man's gold... but you know that already.

My wife won't drive my truck. She says it's too big.

It's amazing. I read an article several years ago that stated that the average automobile has over ten times the electronics and wiring that John Glenn's Friendship 7 space capsule had.

How did we ever survive?

There is also far more computing power in the average smartphone then all the computers that put a man on the moon.

I'm with you! We have 3 vehicles and 2 drivers! Can't live without the seat and mirror memory! To each their own. Happy Thanksgiving!!
