Replacing 7 blade (or pin) connector cable on Salem FSX TT?

Hi everyone,

The 7 blade cord on our 2022 Salem FSX 179DBK got partially severed, so I need to fix it.
Since there seems to be some corrosion on the 7-blade trailer side connector, I'm planning on replacing that at the same time.

I was thinking of purchasing the Hopkins Towing Solution 7 Blade SAE Connector Cable, with the understanding that I would be cutting my existing cord above the severed part and then splicing to the new cord.

However, then I saw some mention of attaching it to the junction box on a trailer.

Do the Salem FSX Travel Trailers have junction boxes where the 7-blade connector feeds in?

I haven't found it yet and didn't think they did. Thank you in advance for any guidance.

I would just guessing say yes there is a junction box.

If there is I would look around or just behind the first frame member or at the back of the tongues A frame possibly under the gas bottles/ battery. Follow the cable pigtail.

you could splice that and cover it with some shrinkwrap

OR you can buy the entire 7 pin wire with the correct 7 pin/blade
They come in various lengths so you have to find where your existing cable goes to and MEASURE from the truck to the end of the original
I measured mine at 6 foot but with the twists and turns etc I ordered 8 foot
It fitted with a few spare inches

Measure yours and buy the next size UP

Mine went to a junction box under trailer
The damage to my wire was total so splice was only for a temporary fix while on the road

fitting new cable it was easy
I snipped each cable at the junction box leaving just enough old wire for color coding
removed the old harness and fed the new one in place

Then connected each wire one at a time
using the little piece of wire I left in place......... to tell me which color goes where

make sure plenty of loose cable for turning but not enough to drag on the ground
use plenty zip ties to keep it in place
