Rockwood 8288 what are you actually hauling it with?

Looking to pick up a 2007 rockwood 8288 ultra lite signature series. They advertise "half ton towable" but it is about my trucks max. I am in Michigan planning to pull it to Florida for a couple months in winter. Does anyone actually have one and what are you using to pull it? A 1500 series would be better on gas but guessing there may be lack of power going up hills. Any help would be appreciated.

Dry hitch weight 1461 so loaded it probably between 1575 and 1700 lbs so you will need the payload of close to 1900 to 2000lbs. Still have to allow for couple hundred for hitch, passengers and what ever else you have in the truck. Looks like the gross weight is 8461 lbs for 2007. Depending on the 1500 you will border line or over on payload and close to tow. Here is a tow planner this is simple to use... Towing Planner - towing capability calculators
