RV Tech Advised Nose Up?

So I just had an interesting convo with a mobile RV tech (who had to come to my house to replace my *brand new* wolf pup brakes because the adjusters weren't installed right, wooooooo)

As he's leaving, he tells us that we should tow this particular type of trailer slightly NOSE UP, because of the way Forest River "kinda bends the axles" and something about the tires riding more straight if we tow nose up, and reducing sway???

"Nose Up" is literally the opposite advice i've heard from everyone everywhere ever.

Has anyone heard of this?

I have not heard such a thing. I try to keep the frame level to the road surface for equal weight on the axles. JMHO

that's crazy talk IMHO. Nose up will shift weight rearward, has to, simple physics.

The actual weight won't move but more weight would be carried by the rear axle.

I think the OPs R/V is a single axle.

If the axle is bent in such a way that the camber (straightness of the tire your words) is not at the correct/optimum alignment unless the R/V is nose up, then there is something incorrect about they way the axle is manufactured or the way they were attached to the suspension/frame.

I have never heard this advice nor do I believe it. Trailers are designed to be towed level.

I didn't notice what model it was so the single axle makes my statement seem sort of dumb but still true for double or triple axle trailers LOL

Let's hope he did a good job on your brakes, and chalk up the "advice" as an example of the kinds of prejudices virtually all "experts" tend to embrace. Silly, or as my mother-in-law would say, "That's just stupid."

I have been puzzled by why people are so anal about having a trailer level. I was under the assumption that trailers used true tandem axles with both axles tied together and rotating around one contact point on the trailer frame. In this configuration, nose up or nose down, the trailer weight is equally distributed on both axles. That isn’t the case with my RV Trailer as I discovered looking under it. It uses torsion axles, which I think may be fairly common in travel trailers as they significantly reduce vibration (good thing). The bad thing is they don’t share the weight of the trailer evenly unless your trailer is level. Jack one axle up and the other will unweighted progressively until it comes off the ground. Moral of the story, adjust your trailer so it is level when hooked to your towing rig. The load to all four tires will be close to equal which means longer wear and better handling.
Looking into this helped me better understand my travel trailer’s suspension. Hopefully this will help you other nubies out there.

I was told level is correct. If you can't get it level for some reason then nose down is better than nose up. My trailer has Level Mate Pro installed and I pulled onto a roadside weigh station scale, which I am 99% sure would be level. My Level Mate Pro showed green light, perfectly level .
