MorRyde weighed my trailer AXLES before putting in the I.S. Not the whole trailer, but the individual axles. I had forgotten these numbers but now that I see this weight, and DW's memory, it comes back to me. And something is not adding up!

MorRyde weighed the back axle at 6,000 lbs and the front axle at 5,400 lbs. That's 11,400. So, they recommended against 8K axles because it would make the ride too stiff. Made sense. So, I went with 7K axles. However, they used 8K components everywhere else, bushings, etc. Wife reminded me of those numbers.

So now I'm as confused as a run over dog!

I guarantee you that a LOT of stuff that used to be in this trailer are now gone. The only addition, and yes it's considerable, is a washer and dryer. Meaning, the trailer had way more stuff in it when MorRyde weighed it than it does now (except for the w/d). And that makes NO SENSE! Because that would mean that if the trailer weighed 17,400 at that time (as it does now), and if the axles weighed 11,400, then the kingpin weight would have been (OR IS!!!) 6,000 lbs!! Now I know I have issues, but the dang pin weight is not 6,000 lbs!!!

There's nothing else coming out. I appreciate all the comments on that regard, honest. I get it. But it's as bare as I'm willing to live with. In fact, probably going to get a Travl'r dish and maybe a built in custom cabinet in lieu of the dining table.

So right now I'm pretty confused. Course, I head to the shop tomorrow to get the major slide issues fixed......and that's primary on my mind right now. But this weight thing is about to get to me.

I'm thinking to find a CAT scale and go reweigh it. Something just doesn't add up in the numbers I'm looking at.

I do appreciate the help, guys!!!
Good luck tomorrow. The guys at the shop may have a scale and certainly can help you think this through.

I had a similar “huh...what the heck” weight moment during our current trip but haven’t had an opportunity to reweigh. The only thing I can think of that caused the wonky reading is that I ended up with one of the trailer axles on the drive axle pad and then backed up before having the weight taken, perhaps that caused an artificially high reading on the drive axle pad.

So, before I let it bug me too much I need to reweigh as well. I did use a CAT scale.

I have no complaints about how the truck and trailer combo tow or the ride and the truck isn’t sagging, etc. Interesting that I’m not the only one that had an odd weigh recently.

I'm not saying that any of you with erroneous weights have done this, but if you pull onto the scale at a speed over 5mph, some scales over 3mph and hit the brakes hard enough to jar the scale pads will cause such errors. It doesn't take much to cause the pads to shift. This is one of the reasons the scale operator has to re-calibrate zero sometimes several times a day. I have seen this many times in the last 42 years working around scales.

I hear you. But I just can't see a 1500 lb. increase over posted pin weight unless he's hauling freight in the bedroom.

Not worried about lawyers.

Yes....need to find a CAT scale and start over. Agreed. This is conflicting info.

BandJCarm,
Can't wait to meet you folks in Whittington. I hope your weight issue (RV, not you) is resolved by then.

I agree 1500 seems a bit much but 3200 to 3500 isn't unreasonable, my stacked washer and dryer add 250 pounds right off the batt and on mine they are 100% pin weight due to there location.
