Salem 353BED sway

Just got our new 2023 salem 353bed 43.4ft long 5th wheel. Im pulling with a 2022 chevy 2500 standard 6.5ft bed with andersen ultimate hitch. Under 50mph pulls loke a dream. 55-60 you better start paying attention over 60 its full on death grip sway. Trailer is all over the plack almost feeling like bounceing around in lane. Im lost on a fix truck has plenty of power but was scary. We are thinking of turning andersn around so a lil more over rear axel. Any helpful hints i will try to add pictures of set up.

first thing I would do is to check how the trailer is loaded and ensure you have proper weight at the hitch. then I would take a hard look at the suspension on the truck and the tire pressure of the rear tires. JMHO

I know nothing about 5th wheels so I probably should be quiet. But is you ball in the bed of the truck behind the rear axel? I thought with the 6.5 foot beds it should be mounted more or less on top of the rear axel. A few inches in front for the 8' bed.

On edit: I noticed that the list dry pin weight for that trailer is 2100lbs which is kinda light for a 5th wheel that size. The flip side is that if you load the trailer up and get to the min recommended 20% then you be pushing 3K lbs which is getting heavy for the 2500HD.

We only had hoses and 3 camp chairs in front bay nothing heavy and in back there is no extra storage for weight only yhing helping the back is out door kitchen. I had truck tires at 80psi and fronts at 55 and 80 on trailer i did get tire p montior for trailer to keep eye on it. My 1st thought was could it be the kevlar fill in tralier tires or hitch to far back? Then was would dullay pull night and day different

I pull a similar rv, smaller, than yours. With a 2500 diesel.

I installed Timbren overload springs. Before hauling the fiver.

My trailer tires are aired up to 105#. True trailer tires. G rated.

The truck appears low in the back. Measure the truck height to the top of the wheel wells, record. Measure hooked up.

Turning the hitch moves the rv forward about 8”. If you install an offset ball that moves the hitch back 4”.

I think your rv should be towed nose high. It looks like it is built lower in front than some.

My 37’ fiver pulls well. Expensive tires on the truck. Michelins.

Did those tires come with the rv?

I thought fivers this big had G rated tires. 14 ply not 10.

Mine does. I have the commercial trailer tires on mine. Awful pricey.$2k

100 psi metal stems.

No expert.

I have a 2021 GMC 3500 Longbed gas, and have the same 353BED rv.
No sway very smooth towing at all speeds.
I have a Curt A16. And did not have factory 5th wheel prep package.
I do same tire pressure as u, 80 in the back, 60 in the front.
If you have factory prep package, the ball is a few inches behind axle with standard bed.
