Self Leveling Air Suspension

My TV is an 07 Ford Expedition with the self leveling air suspension. The compressor died a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I don't need it as a daily driver. The shop I take it to said at least $1000 to replace it. They said they could only find the compressor from the dealer. I brought the truck home. I ordered a compressor for under $200 and I can replace it. Now I just need the weather to break a little.

I like the self leveling since I tow the camper with the family and the Boy Scout troop trailer for campouts with at least 6 passengers. Has anyone done the coil spring conversion on one of these? I'm trying to decide if I should start saving up for maintenance or change over if I start to have more problems with it.

I had an '01 with that suspension. I drove it for 10 years and had to replace the compressor about a year before I traded it. It wasn't that difficult and I found one at a wrecking yard for $50-.
