Thinking through it, I think I must be thinking the pin to axle length increase would cause tracking tighter, but in this case, the overall length isn't changing, just the pivot point itself.

I have a short bed and turning point

I went looking for a 5er knowing I would need a slider hitch. Our Rockwood had a Turning Point pin box and I was still prepared to get the slider. My hitch guy talked me out of it. Extra weight for no reason he said. The Turning Point pivots 22" behind the hitch and I have had no issues in close turns or going down the road.
We have pulled this setup thru the mountains, into Utah and put nearly 4k miles on our new trailer. Yes it makes a little noise but a lot less than the WD hitch we were use to.
My suggestion is to get air bags added to your truck. We installed Airlift 7500s and it definitely levels things out.

Good luck and enjoy your travels.

Yeah Thanks
I installed Airlift Years ago only problem was the remote stopped working so I called Airlift and was told the only fix was to buy a whole new compressor setup because they don’t make that style anymore. I installed a couple of toggle switches and control them with the switches.

We had the 2014 version of your trailer. The "Reese Revolution" hitch is the answer. The pivot point is at the trailer, not on the truck. It worked great for us for 7 years on a 2016 Chevy 3/4T short bed.

I've never used mine.

On my former f350 and current f350 I had a slider on both. I never used them..Yes I busted my window on my old truck and made contact on the new truck. I quickly learned to watch the corners.

The idea of getting out and releasing the hitch just never worked for me. Usually I have to back into my drive on a semi busy street and don't have the opportunity.

My 2 cents from my experience.

I have an F-250 with a standard 6.5' box and use a Super Glide slider. Iike mine however there are several other styles out there
My hitch is 10 years old and there are several newer styles now available. It all depends on your budget and preference. When you sell or upgrade the truck you keep the slider or sell it separately since the mounting railsare fastened to the truck. The slider is removable to give you full use of the truck bed if you want to use it to carry cargo.
