Well I can’t believe the simple mistake I made with our new Silverback. While I was backing up to the trailer to hitch up I noticed something didn’t look right. The lube plate was missing. It took me a minute before I realized that I had never put the new lube plate on the king pin.
I could kick myself for making such a simple mistake because during our PDI my DW asked me if I should take time to put the new lube plate on and I told her I’d do it later. I guess the excitement of a new trailer put that thought right out of my mind. No harm, no foul. I’ve only driven 400 miles without the plate and everything looks good.
This is our third fifth wheel and if there is anything I’ve learned it’s that I’m still very capable of making mistakes. Which brings me to the BIG QUESTION. Since this is the third new Forest River fifth wheel we’ve bought since 2003, will we get a Christmas card from Forest River this year?
