That is a really nice torque curve.

I suspect there will be a need for some changes to the exhaust to achieve the full affect.

I think that would be a worthy addition. Whipple are nice superchargers and they pour the torque on down low where you need it. I'm sure the kit comes with upgraded and larger injectors as well as anything thing else needed. I do like turbos as they cost you no crankshaft HP to operate but their installation is much more intense. You can get a camshaft matched to your intended use and longtube headers would just add to your power levels. But that will cost more. If I hadn't gotten my Duramax for a great price that was the exact thing I was going to do! Get her done and let's see those Dyno #'s!!

Well, I went and test drove an F-450 and decided to cancel the supercharger. Will have to order the truck and get permission from my wife. Wish me luck!

If you need a place to hide it, I have a empty spot in my driveway, just leave the keys.

I think his tranny would be the weak link.

I know, right? I haven't come up with a good answer to that.

@corn18, I think you made the right choice. Just tell your wife this thread gave you permission.

I understand the need for forced induction, however, doing so and doing it right can be pricey. Have you looked around for a Diesel Duramax? Perhaps you could find one with yours as trade in and perhaps, a few more bucks that you would spend on a blower.

I went with the WT trim 2020 2500HD and I am super happy with the performance. Granted, is a the lower trim, very Spartan, but sure it performs like the Premium Trim for 50% less $$. Gotta love that L5P motor with the 10 speed Allison.

I canceled the order for the supercharger and I'm going to order an F-450.

On your 6.0, should be around 350 hp at 5000 rpm. The supercharger with a tune should take it to 525 hp plus. I can't remember what the torque is. But when they tune it, be setup for towing.

I have a 2016 Silverado with the 5.3 I went through the same thoughts about how to make it pull harder or spend a bunch on a new truck. Finally decided to install a Procharger supercharger. Love it. It’s pulls hard we are pulling about 7800 lbs, hills don’t bother it any longer. Over 24,000 miles and going. I installed it in about an afternoon the ecm program update comes from Procharger, best part is when I’m not towing the fuel mileage didn’t change and the extra power is fun!

I saw a video the other days that F450 is grossly underrated (weight). I mean, is a nice truck, but Ford created a heavy truck that leaves no room to stay under the, and I think, the 27,500 lbs for combined Gross Vehicle Weight. Some like if you pull a 12,000 camper and the truck weight 10,000 lbs, you only got 5,000 lbs left for cargo. After that, you need a CDL and the DOT have a whole different set of rules.

On the same video, they mentioned the 2500 HD Duramax. Has the same towing as the 3500 HD, the only difference is the rear leaf springs, that brings the cargo capacity to a hair less than the 3500HD. The truck weight 6~7000 lbs.

What they were saying, that Ford took a heavy hitter and shoehorned in the lower leagues. However, GM went the other way around with a lighter truck and gave it more punch to play in the big leagues; kind of sand-bagging.

Actually what Ford did was take a heavy hitter put a bed and a different spring pack on it and artificially limit it to 14000 GVWR. That keeps it a class three truck and registerable/insurable as a personal vehicle. The DOT does not get involved. Different states have different licensing requirements. Where I am there is no special license to drive the truck by itself. However, If I hook up my fifth wheel (12300 GVWR) I am now over the 26000 lb GCWR that TX mandates I have a Class A Noncommercial license for, not a CDL. As I understand it in AZ there would be no special license and other states would vary.

On the same video, they mentioned the 2500 HD Duramax. Has the same towing as the 3500 HD, the only difference is the rear leaf springs, that brings the cargo capacity to a hair less than the 3500HD. The truck weight 6~7000 lbs.

I don't think is a fair to compare a DRW truck to any single wheel. I am looking for a more enjoyable towing experience so just like the OP I have chosen to get a F450 and reap the benefits of a heavier more stable towing platform with bigger brakes.

What they were saying, that Ford took a heavy hitter and shoehorned in the lower leagues. However, GM went the other way around with a lighter truck and gave it more punch to play in the big leagues; kind of sand-bagging.

Thinking of adding a supercharger to my Chevy 6.0 gasser

I love the F 450! What I’ve been told is that this truck is a F350 with the wide front end and of course the 19.5 inch tires. Typically they have around a 4800 lb payload while the F350 is like 5200 lb payload.

It is the direct competitor to the Ram 3500 DRW. If you look at the Ram 4500, it has a gvwr of 16,500 lbs but it has the straight frame.

I’ve driven the Ford and it is a very wonderful truck. I went to all the local dealers here last night and there are literally zero HD trucks on the lot. I found one 2021 2500 Ram.

So let us know delivery date when you order.

I have a 2020 Ram Longhorn CC 3500 SRW w the long bed. It’s a wonderful truck to drive. 4156 lb payload.

Going back to the supercharger, my brother is looking at this for his 6.4 hemi. He’s looking at the minimum size one. I just saw a video on YouTube and the install looked easy. I’ll see I I can find it. That 6.0 is one of the best GM ever made. $8000 is too much. I think the cost installed should be around $6000. Check out Vivid Racing. Nice install of a Magnesun on a Taco.

It will be tough getting a deal on a new truck right now. I did see a 14 Ram 3500 DRW loaded w only 16500 miles for $ 61000 dollars. Wow.

But that F450 will tow a 13000 plus trailer like it’s nothing. I’m towing a Cedar Creek at 14500 lbs and I feel the same way.
