This time I bought enough truck!

Last year we pulled our new Silverback 29RE with a 2011 F-250 gasser. The truck did well for the most part, but the weight was getting a little too close to maxing out the truck for my liking. Add to that the fact that 8 mpg only gave us about a 200 mile range, and the search began in earnest for a diesel tow vehicle with a higher GVW and one where we could install a 50 gallon Transfer Flow fuel tank in the bed.

This afternoon we pulled the trigger on a 2013 F-350 King Ranch dully 6.7L 14K GVW that the dealer had on the lot. It seems the truck was ordered late last year but the guy would never call the dealer back after the truck arrived. The dealer, not wishing to pay floor-plan on a high end truck that might be a hard sale (in this area, at least) was more then happy to give us a very good deal. Brown's not my color, but I can live with it.

The GVWR is 14,000 pounds and the cargo capacity is just over 6000 pounds. That should be enough truck, even for the most stringent weight police.

Oh, yea...pictures to follow!!

Killer TV indeed. Best of luck with it and what you have now can tug a small condo down the road...

Hey, do you guys know whether the 6.7 has the water cooled turbo's like the Ecoboost? I'm just curious; not trying to get anything started. Wondering whether you can just shut her off after you pull off of the highway; or need to idle for awhile.

If I am towing I do try to let it idle for a few minutes prior to shutting down to let it cool down. If i am just driving around town i dont worry about it quite as much. Just looked at the owners manual and it is recommended when towing or under heavy load to let the turbo cool down.

Yes. When you shut 'er down, you can hear the cooling system working. I still give it a minute; maybe two if under heavy load. Otherwise, just turn it off and let the cooler do its thing...
