Tongue weight?
I just purchased a 2004 Cedar creek 30CKTS. The GVWR on the trailer is around 14,200lbs. I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel. Max weight is around 17,500lbs. My question is the trailer says the tongue weight is around 2050. Is that over my one ton's rating? It tows fine, and it doesn't seem to drop the bed much when it is on the hitch. I am not sure how this correlates.

I don’t recall when the payload capacity stickers were added to trucks, but check for a yellow tire placard on the driver’s door B-pillar with the door open. If listed then it will show the payload capacity as it left the dealer and include the weight of a full tank of fuel but no driver or passengers.
Lacking that as a quick reference and approximation to what your payload capacity is, head to your local CAT scales and have your combo weighed to see if your truck is over any of the axle weights or the GVWR.

Buy a Sherline scale and you will always be able to measure your pin weight. They make a 5000# model which is used for 5th wheels.

My one ton payload is well over 3000lbs. While mine is a different brand and newer I expect you are within your payload but best way to know is to weigh and check your axles. Maybe you learn something about your setup and it only cost you $12.

How does the trailer say its tongue weight is 2059lbs?
Is this a travel trailer or a 5th Wheel? I was under the impression that Cedar Creek only made 5th wheels. 5th wheels don't have tongue weight, they have PIN weight.

They indeed did make TT's as did other higher end companies like Newmar and Holiday Rambler. Here is a 2004

My 3/4 ton has a 3,000 lb payload. Your 1ton should be fine. Check the door placard for your cargo carrying capacity.
The only way to really know for sure is to weigh it.
First weigh the truck itself on the CAT to get the weight on the front and rear axles. Then hitch the trailer and weigh the rig on the CAT to get the weight on the front, rear, and trailer axles. Then do the math to figure out the actual tongue weight (i.e. cargo load) of the trailer.

Next time you are traveling stop at a cat scale. You pull in. Give them a name. They weigh you. You pay the fee inside and they give you a ticket.
Your pin weight is likely near #3000. All 1 ton trucks are near #4000 capacity.
Just avoid filling the bed up with firewood.

I have a 2005 F-150 and it has the payload sticker. It's likely that the 2006 Dodges did too. I don't know this, but I'd look. I'd guess the payload is in the 3200 - 3800 lb range.
The trailer is a 5er. So, use 18-20% as a rule of thumb. If you have your trailer loaded to its GVWR of 14,200 lbs, then the pin weight will be 2,500 - 2,800 lbs. Add another 600 lbs or so for you, passengers, hitch, gear, and "stuff" in or on the truck and bed. You should be fine.
Even with everything loaded to the gills, you're either a shade under or a tick over. Nothing that I'd get riled up over either way. And, odds are, you won't be loaded to your 5er's max GVWR.

Signature also says 5th wheel, so must be someone not familiar with the different terms.

I disagree that all 1-ton trucks have near 4,000 lbs of capacity. I recall specific 2012 Mega Cab Ram trucks that had under 2,500 lbs. as I was shopping. I actually opted for a crew cab vs. the mega cab because of it.
And going as far back as a 2006 truck, I'd be willing to bet 4,000 lbs. is an overstatement, as well.

It is a 5th wheel, but the specs for all the models list tongue weight. That's what confused me. I will check for the data plate.
Thanks for all the replies. The truck by the way is a crew cab with 8 ft bed, single rear axel.
