The new setup - truck & trailer

Below is a pic of the new truck & trailer, we finally got both deals worked out. Happy to have gotten past all the hurdles and now getting ready for camping season.

It's fun to read a thread with a happy ending.

Congrats on the beautiful rig and the DW you don't deserve.

Your story sounds like the way I got a new truck!

(Foot of snow forecast this week, won't be camping soon)

Interesting article, but I was struggling with some of its facts until this one: “the half-ton is $7-10,000 less expensive than a gasoline three-quarter ton model”

That’s where I stopped reading.

I remember the first Ford's that came in our tire shop with those seven lug wheels. Our local water company had bought several and we had a service contract with them. My guy came to tell me about it and I called him a liar till I walked out and saw for myself. I don't run across these much anymore, but see them come in every now and again.

That was just a pic I scratched off the internet. I've seen those seven lug wheels on way later models than that. At least 2014 and maybe later than that

Pretty sure the early EcoBoost F150s with the HDPP, had 7 lug wheels.

Yeah as Youroo pointed out, I think they were all some kind of HD package, but don't quote me on that. Maybe a Ford enthusiast knows the details

For all who think operating just below the maximum numbers is not safe have you ever traveled in an airliner? I guess since about 80% or more of the departures are going to be at the maximum weight limit maybe that type of travel should be avoided.

Airliners are operated/maintained by highly trained individuals. In addition, all aircraft are tested to determine the actual limits of every system. There are processes and procedures to monitor mechanical performance and regular maintenance is performed to prevent failures. The checklists used to operate and maintain a commercial airliner are developed and approved by subject matter experts. Plus the government likes to play a role in the safety of airline travel. This applies to every aircraft and person who has anything to do with commercial air travel.

How much of that can be said about every single vehicle pulling a trailer on the road today?
